Brighterdaysahead a name to remember.

·

Brighterdaysahead, a filly by Kapgarde, gave an impressive performance on her debut at Gowran Park, winning the concluding bumper race comfortably. The half-sister of Mighty Potter, an exciting novice chaser from the same yard, was well-supported in the betting market, having been backed from 11/2 to 2/1. Ridden by jockey Harry Swan, she came to challenge for the lead on the home turn, took control easily and pulled away to win by 13 lengths, leaving the 50/1 outsider Vicky Victoria in second place. However, the 7/4 favourite, Iris Emery, faded in the straight and was eventually pulled up. Brighterdaysahead was purchased for €310,000 at the Derby Sale last year and is owned by Gigginstown. Ian Amond, the assistant trainer to Gordon Elliott, was pleased with the filly’s performance and commented that she has the potential to develop into a smart horse. Her future plans will be decided by the trainer and owners in the coming weeks.
