Hauturiere could go to Cheltenham or Fairyhouse next.

·

Danny Mullins received high praise from his uncle, trainer Willie Mullins, for his enterprising ride on Hauturiere in Punchestown’s Listed Apple’s Jade Novice Hurdle. Despite Kilbree Warrior leading the race, Mullins kept Hauturiere in last place until the straight, where the horse powered home to win the race. Trainer Mullins commended Danny’s tactical ride and praised Hauturiere for her staying power, adding that she may be entered in a handicap at Cheltenham or Fairyhouse, depending on her rating. Hauturiere’s name is fitting, as it translates to ‘deep sea fishery’ in French, and her parents are No Risk At All and Ocean Beach.

HAUTURIERE is a mare that has been improving lately and today, jockey Danny Mullins employed his usual strategy of holding her back and keeping her wide on the track. Although she didn’t seem like she would do well when jumping the second-last hurdle she managed to stay on and in the home straight, Mullins kept her away from the runner-up, confident that his mount would continue to stay on strongly. Overall, it was an impressive performance from her, and it’s clear that she has the potential to do even better if given a longer distance.
