Last time out over 6f, Spirit of Nguru followed the leading pack closely, and then was ridden aggressively over two furlongs from the finish. He continued to make progress and finished strongly, securing third place just before the end of the race.

This was the first time the he had over a 6f , and he had blinkers fitted. He started well and was among the horses chasing the leaders, but lost some ground on the bend and let the first two horses get ahead. Even though he initially struggled to pick up pace early in the straight, he finished strongly and made up some ground. However, it was too late for him to catch up.

The headgear is gone today and the extra furlong should see him go close.
