- Carrarea has shown promise in the past and comes from a solid background, having been trained by Emmet Mullins in Ireland. With a first-time tongue strap and a step up in trip, Carrarea could be a strong contender if he performs at his best. Given his previous form and potential for improvement, Carrarea is a top pick for this race.
- Gaelic Park has demonstrated fairly useful form in the past, with a course bumper win and runner-up finishes in novice/maiden hurdles during the winter. Although his recent performances at Sandown have been disappointing, a return to calmer waters and a 7-lb conditional jockey could see him bounce back and pose a real threat in this race.
- Kankin Kankin has shown a fair level of ability with runner-up finishes in two bumpers, albeit 25 months apart. His recent hurdling debut at Bangor may not have been ideal, but with a step up in trip and the experience gained from that race, Kankin has the potential to improve and could be a solid contender for a top-three finish.

- Boys Of Wexford: This horse has consistently performed well since switching to chasing, scoring at Uttoxeter and showing a solid performance at Huntingdon on St Stephens day. With a respectable third place at Market Rasen earlier this month, Boys Of Wexford should be a strong contender in this race and is likely to be in the mix again.
- Jack Doyen: Although his start to chasing career was inauspicious, his recent performances have been more encouraging. His third-place finish at Ludlow four weeks ago, despite a waiting ride, shows potential. With first-time cheekpieces added and a favourable position given by the handicapper, Jack Doyen is one to keep an eye on in this race.
- Conceal: Despite starting as a 50-1 shock winner at Uttoxeter in October, Conceal has proven to be a game competitor. He followed up with a respectable third-place finish behind Boys Of Wexford over the same course and distance the following month. Although his performance on St Stephens day was less impressive, he still holds more appeal than most other runners in this race after being freshened up since then.

- Stellar Stream has shown promise in his point-to-point win and has been consistently progressive in his three runs under rules. With an impressive win at Hereford and the potential to improve further in his handicap debut, he has a strong chance of performing well in this race.
- Blade Runner has demonstrated solid form over fences, winning three of his four races. Although he needs to prove himself over hurdles, his chase mark being 5lb higher than today’s rating suggests that he could be a strong contender in this race if he can translate that form to this sphere.
- Glance From Clover showed significant improvement when wearing cheekpieces for the first time, winning a C&D handicap race just eight days ago. With a 7lb penalty, he will have to improve again, but considering he seemed to idle in front last time, there’s potential for more to give if the cheekpieces have a similar effect.

- Grandeur D’Ame (FR) – Progressive chaser who has shown great improvement in his last two starts, winning from the front in handicaps at Huntingdon and Stratford. With an 8lb rise in the weights since his last win, he’s heading in the right direction and commands plenty of respect.
- Saint Segal (FR) – An encouraging start to his chasing career, winning his first two starts and likely would have maintained his unbeaten record if not for conceding the first run at Doncaster. With more improvement expected, he is definitely one to consider in this race.
- Red Rookie – A low-mileage 8-year-old with potential, he finished a good third at Sandown on his latest start and should be competitive in this race. He is entitled to come on for that run and could find himself in the mix.

- Krypton Gold is a solid contender with a history of consistent performances. He has proven his ability on good ground and is now back on the same mark as when he performed well at Chepstow. With today’s forecasted better ground in his favour, he could very well be the top choice in this race.
- Ideal Pal is a fairly useful hurdler, who has shown promise in the past. He has a notable win at Fairyhouse last spring, and if he can replicate that form, he could pose a significant threat to the competition. The addition of first-time cheekpieces may help him focus, and switching back to hurdling after a fall last month might be beneficial. He is definitely one to watch closely.
- Midnight Ginger is a four-time hurdle winner, with her most recent victory at Newbury in December. Although she didn’t perform at her best in her subsequent race at Ffos Las, she is likely still on a workable mark and should perform well in this race. As a likeable mare with a strong record, Midnight Ginger is a solid contender.

- Zamparelli (IRE) has shown strong form under rules, winning six times in his career, including a 15-length victory in a handicap hunter chase at Stratford last May. Though he pulled up in his last point outing, if he returns to his previous form, he will be a tough contender to beat. However, the ground might be slower than his preferred conditions, which could affect his performance.
- Firak (FR) has demonstrated useful hurdling skills when trained by Dan Skelton and recently scored a 10-length point win. While he still has something to prove over regulation fences, he appears to be versatile regarding ground conditions and is in good shape. His recent success in points makes him a horse to consider in this race.
- Zee Man (FR) won a heavy-ground point in November and managed to finish third behind two useful rivals in a Southwell hunter chase this month, defying 80-1 odds. Although he fell at Fakenham two weeks ago, he should be able to handle today’s drop back in trip. If he can overcome his jumping issues, Zee Man could be a strong contender in this race.

- Elle Est Beau (IRE) is a £50,000 3-year-old with an impressive pedigree. The dam is an unraced sister to smart bumper/jumps winner The Tullow Tank and closely related to Grand National winner Many Clouds. With a top stable behind her, Elle Est Beau is likely to be competitive and could be a strong contender in this race.
- Solar System (FR) is an interesting prospect, being a fourth foal and half-brother to three French 2m1f hurdle winners. The dam is a French 2m3f chase winner and a half-sister to a useful French jumper. Given the pedigree, Solar System is among the most intriguing runners on paper and should be watched closely in this race.

- Diamond Ri boasts an impressive pedigree, being a half-brother to the smart chaser Pencilfulloflead and the useful hurdler Rare Edition. Although the stable may not have many bumper winners, this newcomer looks interesting and has a lot to like on paper. There’s a good chance this horse will perform well in the race.
- Geezer Rockstar is another strong contender, with a €55,000 price tag as a 3-year-old Getaway gelding. The dam was a fair 2m6f hurdle winner and a sister to useful bumper/jumps winner Themoonandsixpence. The stable’s good bumper strike-rate puts this horse on the shortlist and indicates that he could be a serious competitor in the race.
- Touch Of Thunder is a Beat Hollow gelding and a half-brother to the useful hurdler Jukebox Jive and bumper winner Mon Coeur. The dam was a 9.4f-2m5f Flat/useful hurdle winner. While the stable is usually quiet in bumpers, this 5-year-old has the right pedigree for the task and could be a contender for a top-three finish.
