  1. Cedar Cage – Showed promise with a close third-place finish at this course (1m4f) last time, and the move back up in trip could be beneficial. Appears to be a major player in this race, especially with the drop in grade.
  2. Bascinet – A strong contender with three wins this year, including a C&D victory at the beginning of the month. Despite a disappointing performance at Lingfield last time, there are possible excuses such as a slow start and a short gap between races. Bascinet has a good chance of bouncing back in this race.
  3. Leopolds Rock – With two hurdles wins in 2022/23 and a decent performance at Southwell (12.1f) after a 147-day absence, Leopolds Rock could be a potential dark horse in this race. If he has improved since his last run, he should not be dismissed.

  1. Fayasel (IRE) – Demonstrated significant improvement when winning over C&D on Tapeta debut last time. With a 9lb rise, it’s a tougher challenge, but there’s potential for further improvement. Definitely one to keep an eye on.
  2. Tennessee Dream – Won three consecutive races earlier this year, including a victory over C&D. Had a creditable performance at a higher level and should be well-suited to return to this trip. A strong contender in this race.
  3. Mr Gloverman – Showed promise on handicap debut at Southwell, even with a slipping saddle. The return to 7f should work in his favour, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him give a good account of himself in this race.

  1. Calin’s Lad: Despite not having a win since 2020, this horse has been consistent in its recent performances. With Oisin Murphy riding for the first time, there’s potential for improvement. The horse is also easing 1lb, which could make a difference in this race.
  2. Motawaafeq: A multiple AW winner and a front-runner who has the potential to bounce back after a below-average performance last time out. If the horse can return to its Southwell form from January, it will be a strong contender in this race.
  3. Game Nation: This horse showed some promise at Lingfield last time and has since been dropped a further 2lb. The return to 7f might suit the horse, and it is an interesting option in this race.

  1. Bussento has shown consistent improvement in each of his three 7f races last season and seems well suited for both the all-weather surface and the step up in trip. He has demonstrated a useful standard and appears to have leading claims.
  2. Cicero’s Gift: As a 2,000 Guineas entry, Cicero’s Gift won impressively over 1m at Newbury last October and is open to further improvement. Although the all-weather surface poses a different test, he has the potential to run well under penalty.
  3. Docklands: Another Irish 2,000 Guineas entry, Docklands showed promise on debut, finishing between subsequent winners at Haydock. Although he has been off the track for some time, he is bred to be well suited to the step up in trip and could prove to be an interesting contender.

  1. Climate Precedent: This lightly-raced maiden stepped up on juvenile form when finishing fifth over 1m3f at Southwell on handicap debut last time. Given that it was his first run for a new yard and first run since being gelded, there’s a strong chance for improvement. If he’s as effective back down in trip, he’s a likely player in this race.
  2. Flame Of Kodiac: This thrice-raced maiden showed potential when finishing third over 7f in his most recent outing. With stamina on the dam’s side, the longer trip should suit him well. He’s an interesting contender on his handicap debut and should be considered as one of the top choices in this race.
  3. Churchill Rose: This Churchill filly has been brought along steadily, finishing seventh of 10 in a minor event at Kempton last time. With the form of her AW debut at Kempton in February having been franked, and the longer trip expected to suit her, she could show improvement on her handicap debut. She has the potential to be a major player in this race.

  1. Athmad has been in good form recently with consecutive wins at Southwell and over this C&D. Despite a 5lb increase in weight, the horse still has potential for another strong performance if given a good gallop to aim at.
  2. Oh Herberts Reign has shown some promise with decent runs at this venue on his AW debut and behind the in-form Zealot. In a lesser event and back in trip, he could be a strong contender for the win.
  3. Double Time is a dual 1m winner, and though not at his best over 7f last time out, a return to this trip should suit. With Oisin Murphy on board and now tongue-tied, Double Time is an interesting prospect.

20:30 Wolverhampton Thu 30 Mar 1m Classified Stks

  1. Non Mollare (IRE): Despite a below-par performance in her last race, she has a good chance at the weights and should bounce back on Tapeta. Her trainer is among the winners, and she is likely to be back on her game.
  2. Buachaill (IRE): A C&D winner with a recent creditable third-place finish at this course, Buachaill is an unreliable sort, but if he manages to maintain his form, he could be in contention.
  3. Somedayonedaynever (IRE): Although she remains a maiden after 17 runs, her recent second-place finish at this C&D shows promise. The double-figure draw is a concern, but if she can overcome it, she has potential.
