- Mighty River – Won a novice race at Wolverhampton in December and was competitive in handicaps during the winter. He looks well handicapped and has potential on turf.
- Demilion – Won a handicap debut at Wolverhampton in January, and while the form is not outstanding, he is with a good stable and has the potential to progress on turf.

- Sir Rumi – a likeable and consistent type who ran well at the course when last seen, with a good record on soft ground. The drop back in trip should be no inconvenience, and he is firmly in calculations.
- First Officer – a reliable performer who won on heavy ground at Nottingham in October and has held form well since. He may be summed up by his mark, but his effectiveness in the conditions is a plus, and he could go well on his return to turf.
- Flyin’ Solo – a lightly raced 6-year-old who ran very well when second at Ascot on his sole outing last season. While he has a lengthy absence to overcome, he is progressive and has further potential with few miles on the clock, and he is on the shortlist on his return to action.

- Gorak – Made a good start for his new yard and has the cheekpieces reapplied after a lesser effort last month. Not handicapped out of contention and could bounce back.

- High Opinion – Respected as an unexposed runner who should handle the likely conditions and has shown good form in the past, including a career-best win in soft ground at Nottingham.
- Burj Malinka – Has won twice on soft ground and gone well fresh before. Although he is without headgear today, he should relish the likely conditions and is high on the list.
- Prospect – Dropped to a fair mark and ran well on his return from a 150-day break at Newcastle. With his act-on-any-ground ability and the likelihood of him being sharper for this race, he could be a leading player.

- Indian Sounds – Returns from wind surgery and is now 20lb lower than at this time last year. Although all four turf wins have come on good or faster ground, he has gone close on soft and worth a second look.
- Hey Mr – Makes stable debut after seven months off and is well worth monitoring in the market. Has won on slow ground before and could be ready to return to winning ways on first run for yard after leaving Les Eyre.
