- Atlantic Dancer – Coming off a win over C&D and still lightly raced for her age. Has a 5lb rise to contend with but looks a likely contender.
- Half The Freedom – Has coped with soft ground before and has shown clearcut success over hurdles. Was held in third twice since but looks to have been running against absurdly well handicapped horses.
- Tonto Foley – Showed promise on handicap debut and can be dangerous here if he settles just a bit better in the early stages. Weighted to go close.

- The Newest One: He has been runner-up in both starts since switching back to hurdling this year, including a good second in a Class 2 handicap at Doncaster last month. He may not be ideally suited by the slower ground here but is a good chance at these weights.
- Top Target: He won quite comfortably on his hurdle debut and has performed well on both subsequent outings, most recently when fourth on handicap debut at Ffos Las in January. That form already puts him in the mix here and he could have untapped potential over today’s longer trip.
- Mexico: He has shown some fairly useful form this season, including a win at Southwell in December. He seems versatile regarding ground and has a significant role to play if his stamina holds out on his first run beyond 2m5f.

- Corey’s Courage – The triple novice hurdle winner returned to form with a very impressive victory last time out, beating a next-time-out winner by over 8 lengths. A 7lb rise is manageable, and there could still be plenty of improvement to come from this horse.
- Marsh Wren – This horse won on her handicap debut at Exeter earlier this year and is likely to appreciate the calmer waters of this race. She didn’t fare well in a competitive Class 3 race last time out, but this race should be more to her liking.
- Western Jill – This horse has potential and could improve on her handicap debut, especially as she is now making a quick switch to handicaps. She was second last time out but was no match for the wide-margin winner, so she will need to step up her game to challenge for the win.

- Blackjack Magic – Has the potential to bounce back after a jumping error in his last run and has shown good form in his previous chase runs.
- Lord of Kerak – Ran a good race in defeat last time out and competes off the same mark here, likely to cope with the drop back in trip.
- Prevaricate – Showed improvement in his last run at Sandown and has the potential to take another step forward here, although he needs to prove himself after two disappointing runs earlier this season.

- Gold Emery – The point and hurdle winner has shown promise in his two chase starts so far, finishing third and second. He is expected to be suited by the longer distance and has potential for further improvement.
- Last Quarter – The unexposed chase runner finished narrowly second at Ffos Las on his second chase start and has shown impressive jumping. He should be competitive off his revised mark.
- Beyond Redemption – The Harry Derham-trained runner won impressively at Wincanton in January but was disappointing last time out. However, he may have more to offer for the yard and is worth another chance.

- Had To Be Hugo: Ran well in his four starts so far and bred to stay further than the 2m7f trip, big player here.
- Breizh Alko: Veteran but lightly raced for his age, coming into this off the back of a win at Southwell and still well treated on the pick of his form.
- Betterforeveryone: Won on seasonal/handicap debut at Bangor, fell last time out but still a player off 2lb lower here.

- Northern Reel – showed improvement to win an Irish point and has joined a stable with a good record in bumpers. Respected if well supported in the betting.
- Cherie D’Am – represents powerful connections and has a useful pedigree, although difficult to weigh up based on limited evidence from a point-to-point win.
