- Magical Maggie – Despite disappointing twice since making a successful hurdles debut, Magical Maggie has a strong record of three wins out of four starts, including a win at Uttoxeter on her hurdling debut. If she can return to her previous form, she could be hard to beat in this race.
- Gaye Legacy – Improving with experience over hurdles, Gaye Legacy lost out only by a nose at Warwick three weeks ago. Although the form isn’t anything to get too excited about, she features prominently in the calculations here and has more to offer.
- Stopherandgo – After making frame in all completed starts in Irish points, Stopherandgo caused a surprise when winning a similar event at Wincanton last month. Although she is up against stronger competition today, she has the potential to do better and could be considered for an each-way bet.
Other horses to consider include By Pass, who belied triple-digit odds when keeping-on third at Hereford and has pretty good each-way claims if all goes to plan here, and Nancy Till, who made the frame in two soft-ground Irish points and needs today’s trip-and-ground combination to show her in a much better light. However, I believe my top 3 selections have stronger chances of winning the race based on their recent form and other factors.

- La Renommee – This French mare has taken well to fences, winning two of her three chase starts, including a victory over C&D last time out where she beat Fortunes Melody by 1¼ lengths. She is up 2 lb in the handicap, but she has shown enough to suggest she can overcome that and win again.
- Walk In Clover – Although yet to win in five starts over fences, Walk In Clover caught the eye when finishing second in a C&D novice chase 40 days ago. She is now back in handicap company and could be well treated off an unaltered mark. With her proximity to a useful Irish mare last time, she could be a strong contender.
- Cotton End – While it has been 11 runs since her last win, Cotton End ran creditably when finishing third behind La Renommee and Fortunes Melody over C&D last month. She has become very well handicapped on peak hurdles form and can’t be ruled out in this race.
Other horses to consider include Fortunes Melody, who has been consistent over fences and ran creditably behind La Renommee last time out, and Volkovka, who is well handicapped on her best hurdles form, but has something to prove over fences. However, I believe my top 3 selections have stronger chances of winning the race based on their recent form and other factors.

Hercules Morse has shown promise in his two hurdling starts before winning a maiden hurdle at Ffos Las. He has potential for further improvement and is unlikely to be far away.
Space Voyage has taken well to hurdling, winning two small-field novices this year. He is likely to make a bold bid for the hat-trick and is a leading contender.
Ajp Kingdom has shown ability in points and won on his rules debut in a Bangor bumper in September. He was in need of experience when second on his hurdling debut at Kempton and is unexposed, making him a respected contender after a break.
Guy is a useful chaser but has only won once in 18 attempts. He has not been seen over hurdles since 2019 but is suited by this track and should be competitive back hurdling for the first time in a while.
Hill of Tara has only shown minor promise in a bumper and maiden hurdle 15 months apart, and he is likely to need more time to develop.
Based on their performances and potential, my top 3 horses for this race would be Space Voyage, Hercules Morse, and Ajp Kingdom. Space Voyage has proven ability over hurdles and is in form, while Hercules Morse has shown potential and is open to improvement. Ajp Kingdom is unexposed and has shown ability in points and on his rules debut, making him a respected contender after a break.

- Dibble Decker – With two consecutive wins at Huntingdon, Dibble Decker is showing good form and improvement since the addition of cheekpieces. While he is moving up in class today, he has more to offer over this longer trip and is a major player in this race.
- Le Cameleon – Le Cameleon returned to form with a C&D win last month and is versatile regarding ground. He is up to a career-high mark today but remains unexposed over this sort of trip and can give another good account.
- Good Boy Bobby – Although he hasn’t hit top form this season, Good Boy Bobby ran well for a long way in a Cheltenham Festival handicap last month and is now 9lb lower than when winning the Rowland Meyrick at Wetherby last season. This is an easier race, and he figures on a handy-looking mark.
Other horses to consider include Annsam, who has shown good form in the past, and Bobhopeornohope, who won twice over C&D last year and should benefit from the return to this track. However, I believe my top 3 selections have stronger chances of winning the race based on their recent form and other factors.

- Hardy Fella – Hardy Fella has shown some promise in his recent races, including a second-place finish at Wincanton last month, which was well advertised by the winner since. He has potential to improve in handicaps and could perform well on his handicap debut.
- Heros – Heros won a hurdle race in France and has shown some improvement in his recent runs in Britain, including a second-place finish over the same distance at Doncaster last month. The slower ground may also suit him, so he is another horse to consider.
- Regal Renaissance – Regal Renaissance won a fortunate victory at this course and distance in December, and her form should be treated with some caution. However, she has had a subsequent wind operation, and if it proves successful, she could be open to further improvement.
Overall, I believe that Hardy Fella, Heros, and Regal Renaissance are the top three horses to consider for this race.

- Dom Perry – This horse has shown promise in both a maiden hurdle win and a handicap third place finish last month. Despite racing too freely, he still managed to run well in the latter race and should be able to improve with more experience. He’s also 2lb lower here, which could be a boost.
- Patient Dream – The addition of cheekpieces has revitalized this horse’s form, resulting in back-to-back wins at Market Rasen and over C&D in February. With the same jockey on board and coming off a break, he could be in with a chance to complete the hat-trick.
- Scherbobalob – Although he unseated his rider on his recent handicap debut, he showed improved form when finishing fourth in a C&D novice in February. He remains unexposed and could surprise with a good run here.
As for the other horses, Aristobulus has shown promise in both flat and hurdles, but this is his handicap debut in this sphere so it remains to be seen how he’ll handle the increased competition. Force De Frap has struggled from higher marks in recent outings, while Thunder Ahead has been disappointing in his hurdle starts. Herecomeshogan may need this race for fitness, and Hidor De Bersy has struggled to build on a promising start over fences.

Arthur’s Sixpence (IRE) has some good form in the past, but was disappointing on his last run and will need to improve significantly to be competitive here. Bletchley Castle (IRE) won this race last year and should benefit from the return to this track, but he was pulled up on his last run and may need the ground to dry out. Diligent (FR) is a useful and consistent horse who has won multiple times over hurdles and fences, including a second place in a recent hunter chase at Wincanton, and he looks like a strong contender here. Fix At All (FR) won impressively over this course and distance on his hunter chase debut just 11 days ago and should be considered a major threat. Gaboriot (FR) was a useful hurdler but has not shown much in his last two runs and unseated his rider at the first fence when wearing blinkers for the first time at Warwick on Thursday.
Based on this analysis, my top three picks for the race would be Diligent, Fix At All, and Bletchley Castle. Diligent has shown consistent form and should be competitive in this race, while Fix At All is coming off an impressive victory over this course and distance and should be in the mix. Bletchley Castle is a course and distance winner and may benefit from a return to this track.
