All For Rachel – Fair hurdler but needs to improve on her chasing debut run to be in contention.
Gali Flight – Remains a maiden over hurdles but ran well on chasing debut finishing second at Thurles. Cheekpieces are retained and could be in with a good chance.
Magheralin Mick – Decent hurdler who ran well on his last start at Wexford over an inadequate trip. Not to be dismissed on his chase debut.
Old Soul – Winning hurdler in December who ran well on his chasing debut finishing second at this course. A good chance of another strong run.
Rolly Bowley Boy – Promising horse who fell two out on his chasing debut at this course but was still in contention. Should feature and the step up in trip will suit him.
Takarengo – Arrives below par after a disappointing run at Cheltenham Festival. However, he has often kept lofty company and a step down in grade could be what he needs.
Teescomponentsyess – Returned from a break with a fine effort at Limerick last week but has failed to complete on both of his starts over fences so far. Better expected here.
Top Line Tommy – Fair hurdler who switches from hurdles to chase. Respectable fourth at Tramore and could be in with a chance.
Butterflyvespiere – Won a Downpatrick maiden and a Listowel handicap hurdle against her own sex in 2021. However, was beaten by 42 lengths on his chasing debut and needs to improve.
I Must – Poor hurdler who is rated just 82 after eight hurdle starts. Likely to struggle on his chasing debut.
Top Three Horses:
- Old Soul
- Gali Flight
- Rolly Bowley Boy
Others with a Chance:
Takarengo, Teescomponentsyess, and Top Line Tommy.
Unlikely to Win:
All For Rachel, Butterflyvespiere, and I Must.

Carrolls Cottage (IRE) has yet to win in 17 chase starts and has been poor in his last two runs, making it difficult to back him to win this race. Earths Furies (IRE) has been consistent this season but was well beaten last time out, and therefore his chances are not as strong as some others in the race. Golden Glen (IRE) has a poor record, with only one win in 33 NH runs, and although he ran well last time out, it’s difficult to see him being in the mix for the win.
On the other hand, there are several horses that look to have a strong chance of winning. Emancipator (IRE) won on his chasing debut over C&D a year ago and has been kept to hurdling since. He has form at the track and can go well fresh, so he should be considered a player in this race. Pana To Milan (IRE) won a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse in January before putting in a good performance last time out in a handicap hurdle at this course. Although he is significantly up in trip, he has to be respected on his handicap chase debut.
Joy Of Life (IRE) got off to a flying start over fences when winning a beginners’ chase at Cork in January before a fine run over 2m at this track. Although he jumped poorly over 3m at Limerick last time, he has shown enough promise over fences to be considered a top contender in this race. Eddies Pride (IRE) got off the mark on his 28th start when winning a Fairyhouse handicap chase in November over 3m. He has form at this trip and shorter and should be respected, especially given his stable’s good spell of form.
In summary, the top three horses with potential to win are Emancipator (IRE), Pana To Milan (IRE), and Joy Of Life (IRE). Eddies Pride (IRE) also has a chance, while Carrolls Cottage (IRE), Earths Furies (IRE), and Golden Glen (IRE) are unlikely to win based on their recent form.

Bay Ambition (IRE) Dual hurdle winner with a rating of 120; yet to win in 10 chase starts but has been running well, including a good run over 2m4f at this course last time. Expected to suit the longer distance and should be considered a contender.
Good As Hell (IRE) Won over fences at Tipperary in October but disappointed in two subsequent runs and returning from an absence. The heavy ground may also not suit.
Killisk Ben Rose (IRE) 18lb out of the handicap and has no realistic chance.
Lizrona (IRE) Won a handicap chase at Thurles in December but has since been poor in two starts over fences and one over hurdles. Headgear worn in those runs is left off here.
Rebel Early (IRE) Four-time hurdle winner including a win at this course. Best run in three chase starts was on debut at Wexford in 2021. Of some interest on handicap debut and market may guide.
Seangoell (IRE) Winner of a point-to-point but yet to win in nine chase starts. Recently flattered by proximity to winner in a Grade 3 but has run well at this course over fences and shouldn’t be dismissed.
Sweet Street (IRE) Dual hurdle winner who has been underwhelming in first three chase starts but was hampered last time when running a better race over 2m4f. Possibilities on handicap debut.
Based on the comments, Bay Ambition is the most likely winner, with Sweet Street and Rebel Early also in with a chance. Seangoell may be worth considering for a place. Good As Hell, Killisk Ben Rose and Lizrona are unlikely to win.

Fameaftertheglory is the one to beat in this race, having been a fairly useful hurdler and finishing a respectable third in a novice hurdle at Navan on his last start. The blinkers have been refitted and his yard is in good form, so he looks to have solid claims.
Feu Du Bresil is a fair hurdler who has shown promise in his early career. Although he has been disappointing in his recent runs, he finished second in his last race at Thurles and could be thereabouts.
Conyers Hill is a promising type who ran well to finish third in a 2m maiden hurdle here last month on yard debut. Although the form is not the strongest on offer, he handles conditions and could improve again.
Champagne Mahler looks interesting on paper, being a well-bred gelding and coming from a stable in good form. However, he may need a longer trip than this and the market may be the best guide to his chances.
Top Speed is another horse to consider. He ran well in a bumper here last term and improved on his return, finishing sixth in a competitive novice hurdle at Leopardstown. He may have been undone by taking a keen hold early on that day, and could improve further.
Of the rest, San Martino has shown promise over hurdles but may be better suited to handicaps at this stage, while the likes of Battle Of Ridgeway and Dream Jet have struggled in their early runs.

Champagnesocialist looks to be the one to beat, having gone close in each of her three runs over hurdles including a runner-up finish at Ayr on heavy ground. Desert Heather is also worth considering, having produced a good second-place finish over 3m on heavy ground at Limerick last month, with the added bonus of a tongue strap on for the first time. Bint Freya has shown promise in handicaps and could be a contender if she improves, but her sole run on heavy ground was disappointing.
Molly Honey and Walk Out are lightly-raced maidens who could improve over the longer trip, with Walk Out showing potential before unseating last time out. Kilbarry Saint was only beaten 1l in a mares’ maiden point at Lingstown last month and could be a surprise package, while Apples In Winter has been inconsistent and may need to return to her career-best form to be in the mix. Cullagh Pride and Flidais are both making their hurdling debuts and may need more time to show their potential, while Susie Miller and Will You Win have yet to show their best form and are unlikely to challenge for the win.
Overall, Champagnesocialist and Desert Heather are the top picks, with Bint Freya and the improving Kilbarry Saint as potential threats.

Millstream Lady (IRE) ran well on her handicap hurdle debut last time out and has a good chance here on the pick of her form. She’s stepping back up in trip, which should suit, and has a workable opening mark. Mighty Jeremy (IRE) also comes here in good form, having been narrowly beaten at Cork two weeks ago. He’s shown he can handle the testing ground and looks to be relishing the longer trips, so he should be in with a chance again. Tingarran Express (IRE) was a good second here over a similar distance last time out and is only 2lb higher in the weights. She’s shown she’s in good form and should be well in the mix.
Costanuci (IRE) put in a career-best performance when narrowly denied at Punchestown last time, but she has to prove she’s as effective on this ground. Legacy of Dreams (FR) is returning to hurdles after a poor showing over fences last week, and the blinkers need to produce a career-best for her to have a chance. Shean Glory (IRE) needs to prove she can handle this sort of trip on testing ground, while Givemylovetorose (IRE) needs to bounce back from a disappointing run at Cork. Barely Made It (IRE) has been struggling over fences, and while she’s back over hurdles for her handicap debut, she needs to improve on her recent form. Glenvara Lady (IRE) has shown very little in her maiden hurdle starts and is unlikely to win, while Catrionas Darling (IRE) has also been struggling and has plenty to prove.

Extrapolation looks like the horse to beat here. He was highly encouraging on his Rules debut when a runner-up in a Navan bumper last month and proven in these conditions. Toad Hall, a Fame and Glory gelding, is highly respected on debut and comes from a good family. Walk Away Harry, a Walk in the Park gelding, warrants respect for his in-form yard despite potentially wanting further.
Glendine Billy, a closely related Cloudings gelding to a modest staying chaser, will likely need the experience, as will Jeronimo De L’ouch, who didn’t show a lot on his debut but has a useful French pedigree.
Pray Tell could be very interesting back under Rules after a point win at Knockanard in February, but he fell in his follow-up bid. Shannon Royale has shown promise with a runner-up spot in a point, but his low-key Rules debut suggests he probably needs further.
Read The Room, a Milan filly, has some potential based on her family, but the market should be checked. Smile Again, an Aizavoski mare, has a useful sibling but has not shown much so far. Finally, Blondesandbubbles, who was beaten a long way out when tailed off at Gowran last month, has a lot to prove on her bumper debut.
