NEWTOWN MAIDEN HURDLE

  1. Calico (FR): With seven placings in 12 hurdling attempts, including an Aintree Listed second and a runner-up finish in a Punchestown maiden, Calico has been maintaining a decent level of form. This race could be a good opportunity for the horse to secure a win.
  2. Heather Bear (IRE): After winning three Flat handicaps in a row last summer and making a good start to her hurdling career at Limerick last month, Heather Bear has shown potential. With her sound jumping, she is a major contender in this race.
  3. Highland King (IRE): Although a first reserve, Highland King has a 73-rated Flat maiden with Johnny Murtagh and could improve after his recent Dundalk appearance. If he runs, he is one to consider in this hurdle race.
  4. Vintage Gold (IRE): Despite being a poor Flat maiden, Vintage Gold showed some promise on his hurdling debut at Leopardstown over Christmas. This weaker race could offer more opportunity for the horse to perform well.

While these four runners appear to have the best chances, it’s important to consider other factors such as track conditions, jockey form, and any changes to the line-up before placing bets.

LADIES DAY AUGUST 19th MAIDEN HURDLE

  1. Smooth Player (IRE) – This horse is a major player in the race, having performed well in recent maiden hurdle runs. Although this sharp 2m may not be the ideal distance, Smooth Player’s versatility could still make it a strong contender.
  2. Hisnameis Mrdevitt (IRE) – A dual Flat winner with a useful level of form over hurdles, including in handicaps. Hisnameis Mrdevitt has a major chance if performing at its best form. The horse is returning from a six-month break, and the ground may be softer than ideal, but its previous form still makes it a strong competitor.
  3. Baltic Moon (GER) – Although its hurdling attempts have been underwhelming, there is potential for improvement. The horse is up against strong competition, but it could still perform well in this race.
  4. Team Of Firsts – This horse has performed decently on the Flat and has a sibling who is a useful hurdler, so it may take well to this discipline. The market may be the best guide to its readiness, but it could still be a contender in the race.

These are the horses with the best chances of winning or performing well in the race, but as always in horse racing, there are no guarantees. Keep an eye on market movements and any other relevant information that may become available closer to the race time to help inform your assessment.

COPPER COAST HANDICAP HURDLE

Distance 2m

Prize €10,000 Rated (80-102) Age 4yo+ Race State Declaration Runners 17

  1. Pidoyne (IRE): This dual Flat winner in France has shown improved form recently, finishing second in handicaps at Limerick and Thurles. Although raised another 3lb, Pidoyne looks likely to run well again but can sometimes jump to the right.
  2. Downtherefordancin: Despite poor performances in the last two races, this horse could be a different proposition now tackling handicaps. The market could be a good indicator of its chances in this race.
  3. Doyouthinkso: A C&D winner, this horse has gone well at the course before and should run respectably with drying ground as a plus.
  4. Gendarme (IRE): Although Gendarme has been well beaten on recent starts on winter ground, all of its wins have come on a sound surface. The drying ground could help the horse bounce back.
  5. Mahlers Cove (IRE): This horse won a Thurles handicap last month, beating Pidoyne, but disappointed at Naas after making a bad mistake. There is potential for Mahlers Cove to bounce back.
  6. Wrecking Ball Paul (IRE): This horse showed some ability in Flat maidens at Dundalk before a solid effort on handicap debut at Limerick. Drier ground should help, making Wrecking Ball Paul one to consider.

Keep an eye on the market for potential indicators of other runners who might perform well, such as Fowler For Four and Grizabella (IRE).

SUMMER FLAT RACING JULY 11th HANDICAP HURDLE

Distance 2m 4f 120y

Prize €11,000 Age 4yo+ Race State Declaration Runners 12

  1. Jump The Shark: With recent good performances in handicaps, especially the last two over 2m4f, this improving horse looks like a major contender in this race.
  2. Teescomponentsyess: A dual hurdle winner at Limerick, this horse has a fair mark and a recent fine performance at Limerick, making it one for the shortlist.
  3. Prince Zaltar: A C&D winner a year ago, this horse scored for the second time over hurdles at Navan last month. Although ideally suited for better ground, it is still a horse to consider.
  4. Pat Coyne: This horse has won twice at the course over fences and has a local trainer. It is respected for its 30lb lower hurdles mark and the rider’s claim.
  5. Gaius: This horse enjoyed a good autumn with wins at Punchestown and Sligo. It has been absent since December but returns for a new yard. The trip and ground seem suitable, and the market could be a good guide.

Other horses like Criminal Mischief and Aide De Camp could also perform well in the race, but their chances appear to be less consistent than the top contenders mentioned above.

TRAMORE PROMENADE BEGINNERS CHASE

Distance 2m 5f 150y

Prize €11,000 Age 5yo+ Race State Declaration Runners 16

  1. Hardwired (IRE) – Has been placed many times over hurdles and fences and rated 102, offering a solid chance of making the breakthrough in this race.
  2. Karen’s Gift (IRE) – A dual hurdle winner rated 102; although beaten significantly on chasing debut, a better effort is expected this time.
  3. The Abbey (IRE) – A hurdle winner with decent performances over fences, recently had a tune-up on the Flat and has a top 5lb claimer aboard; this race presents a good opportunity.

Keep an eye on the market for any support for Oryx Hustler (IRE), as it could be an indication of the horse’s potential in the race after a long absence.

WEST WATERFORD HANDICAP CHASE

Distance 2m 5f 150y

Prize €10,000 Rated (0-95) Age 5yo+ Race State Declaration Runners 17

  1. Mighty Jeremy (reserve) – This horse has been in excellent form over hurdles recently, posting back-to-back wins in handicap hurdles at Clonmel and then here yesterday. If allowed to run, it could have a strong chance in this race, especially as it makes its chasing debut.
  2. Aodhan May – After showing little previously, Aodhan May finished second at Down Royal in January and won last time over 3m1f at Wexford. Although the drop in trip isn’t ideal, it should still be on the premises and has a good chance of performing well.
  3. Ardera Ru – This horse has been in great form lately over hurdles and is theoretically well-in returning to fences. However, it did poorly in its only previous start in this sphere, so there is some uncertainty.
  4. Fox Le Bel – Despite remaining a maiden after 25 starts, Fox Le Bel had a strong performance when second to Aodhan May over 3m1f at Wexford last time. The shorter trip in this race should suit it better, making it a strong contender.
  5. Kings Halo – After winning a Limerick handicap hurdle over 2m5f last time, Kings Halo is now 5lb lower over fences and was second over this course and distance in January, making it a horse to consider in this race.
  6. O Mio Babbino – This horse got off the mark on its third chase start at Thurles in February over this trip and had a decent run even when it couldn’t follow up a week later under a 7lb penalty. It should be involved in the race.
  7. The Eye Of Tulla – Although a maiden after 14 chase starts, The Eye Of Tulla put up its best effort when third at Limerick (2m1f) in December from 5lb out of the handicap. Racing off 2lb lower today and being effective over this trip, it should be considered.

These horses appear to have the best chances of winning or performing well in the race based on their recent form and the analysis provided. However, it’s essential to remember that horse racing can be unpredictable, and there are no guarantees.

GAULTIER HUNTERS CHASE

Distance 2m 5f 150y

Prize €10,000 Age 5yo+ Race State Declaration Runners 8

  1. Lord Schnitzel (IRE): The top contender, with six wins in point-to-points and a maiden hunters’ chase win at Limerick two seasons ago. He recently beat a Cork hunters chase winner, Dinny Lacey, and had Sizing Diamond well behind in a Down Royal hunters chase. He is the one to beat in this race.
  2. Lar’s Lass (IRE): A strong performer who impressed with her win at a Cork mares’ maiden hunter-chase a week ago. She faces tougher competition in Lord Schnitzel but is in excellent form and should perform well in the race.
  3. Carrig Wells (IRE): Despite folding behind Lar’s Lass at Cork recently, Carrig Wells showed better form with a second place at Thurles. He has place claims at the very least.
  4. Tohellortoconnacht (IRE): Although it might be challenging for him to play a major role in the race, his slight drop in trip should suit him. The addition of a tongue tie may also help improve his performance.

These four horses seem to have the best chances of winning or performing well in the 2m5½f Gaultier Hunters Chase, with Lord Schnitzel and Lar’s Lass as the standout contenders.
