Going Good

Action Point seems to me the most likely winner in this race. The Blue Point colt justified favouritism in an AW contest at Kempton 23 days ago, contributing to his trainer’s flying start with 2-year-olds this term. He is set for an interesting clash with another April winner.

Potential dangers in the race include Maximum Impact, whose winning margin at Leicester may have been exaggerated by the heavy ground to some extent, but he still scored in the style of a smart prospect. He evidently has Royal Ascot aspirations and should be respected. Balagh, a 120,000gns yearling by Dandy Man, also merits attention, as his trainer won this race with a newcomer last year.

Going Good (Good to Soft in places)

Taygar appears to be the most likely winner in this race. She had three of these behind when making a successful debut at Beverley, where she finished strongly once she understood what was required. Taygar seems to have potential as a useful horse.

Possible dangers in the race include Chumbaa, who finished third in both her runs and had no excuses from a prominent pitch when third behind Taygar at Beverley. With a 7lb pull on the winner, she should be competitive and might be thereabouts. Angel Of England, a £24,000 yearling, is another to consider, as he is a half-brother to winners Bermuda and Vetiver. The market should also be informative for World Of Darcy, a 42,000-euros yearling from last year’s winning stable.

Going Good to Firm (Good in places)

Grey Gray appears to be the most likely winner in this race. She was unable to lay a glove on the impressive winner in her debut but recovered well from a slow start to take second at Bath. Grey Gray seems to be a major player in this contest.

Possible dangers in the race include Via Electriano, who lost out only by a short head on debut at Kempton, having raced prominently throughout. She must be considered as a strong contender. Additionally, Mariamne, an 18,000gns yearling and the first foal of her dam, is worth watching, as her trainer does pretty well with 2-year-olds. It would not be a surprise if this filly makes an impact in the race.
