The top contenders based on the total ratings are Lady Reset, Silastar, and Miss Bluebelle.
- Lady Reset comes out on top with a rating of 368.6. This horse is returning from a break since last September, but she’s shown competitive form on similar conditions in the past. She’s also had a wind operation, which could potentially enhance her performance. Importantly, Lady Reset has been successful at this course and distance before, and is not to be ruled out.
- Silastar, with a rating of 361.6, is also a strong contender. He made significant progress with a 12-length win at Leicester last time. Although he’s gone up 7lb for that, it’s possible that the rise could have been worse, and he has shown effectiveness on both good and good to firm ground. A repeat of that form could make him hard to beat.
- Miss Bluebelle, rated at 352.3, is lightly raced and won comfortably at Wolverhampton on the AW last November. She followed that win with a close second at the same track in January. While she has been successful on the all-weather, she is yet to prove she can reproduce that form on turf, which is a slight concern.
Looking outside the top-rated horses, Glory Nights, and Night Arc could be worth considering, based on the positive comments provided.
Glory Nights, though lower in the total ratings, is making his handicap debut. He displayed ability in his three starts for Sir Michael Stoute and is now up in trip. He could improve for last month’s stable debut at Kempton and although not bred for this longer trip, cannot be ruled out.
Night Arc is returning after a break of over a year, but he was in winning form when last seen, upped to this distance at Leicester. Despite the time off, he could still be well treated off this 4lb higher mark if fully tuned up. The market response to his return will be interesting to observe.
