·

This race analysis is based on the total ratings provided for the 11 horses running in the 2.25 Goodwood Hanover Communications Handicap. The rankings are as follows:

  1. Man Of Eden: Total rating of 370.5.
  2. John Chard Vc: Total rating of 364.9.
  3. Come Together (IRE): Total rating of 356.6.
  4. Woodstock: Total rating of 329.7.
  5. Choisya: Total rating of 325.5.
  6. Dream Of Mischief: Total rating of 325.4.
  7. Dornoch Castle (IRE): Total rating of 325.1.
  8. Sudden Ambush: Total rating of 321.8.
  9. Tiger Bay: Total rating of 305.2.
  10. Seductive Power (IRE): Total rating of 298.3.
  11. Pure Gold: Total rating of 271.2.

Starting with the top-rated horse, Man Of Eden, he finished nicely for second in a similar event over C&D recently and holds solid claims with only a 2lb higher mark. He seems to have adapted well to his new yard and could be a strong contender here.

John Chard Vc also had a good record in races last term and ran well in a York nursery on his final outing, a result that has substance. He has been gelded since and is expected to perform better this season.

Come Together (IRE) had only raced three times but won his last outing at Wolverhampton six months ago. He appears to be improving and could do well in this handicap, even though he’s been away for a while.

Moving down the list, Woodstock has shown progression on AW and won twice this year. His poor performance on turf might be attributed to soft ground, and he may improve on this faster surface at Goodwood.

Choisya showed progression on AW but took a step backwards in her last outing. Despite this, she still has low mileage and could be a dark horse if she can bounce back from her dip in form.

Outside the top five in ratings, Dream Of Mischief has had mixed results on turf and AW. His chance might hinge on how well he responds to gelding operation and being fresh. Dornoch Castle’s form dipped after a promising start, and he may need to prove himself again. However, he may fare better with an outing under his belt.

In summary, based on total ratings and recent form, Man Of Eden and John Chard Vc appear to be strong contenders in this race. However, Woodstock and Come Together (IRE) could surprise, particularly if the latter can carry forward his previous form after his six-month absence. Choisya might also be worth watching, given her previous progression on AW.

This analysis is based purely on ratings and form comments and doesn’t take into account other factors such as the condition of the track on the day, which could impact the performance of these horses.
