4.45 Goodwood (6 runners) William Hill Handicap 5f. Analysis based on the Timewise Rankings.

·

  1. Dream Composer (FR) – With the highest total score of 495.0, Dream Composer stands as the favourite. The horse is in remarkable form, as evident from its recent victories at Newmarket and Goodwood. Despite a 4lb increase, this horse has a solid track record, indicating a strong performance in this race.
  2. Lihou – Scoring 398.7 in total, Lihou is the second top contender. The horse’s recent form on turf is commendable. Lihou’s last month’s clash with Dream Composer at Newmarket was impressive, and his victory at Epsom further boosts his chances. The reinstatement of a visor could prove beneficial.
  3. Angle Land – With a total score of 354.5, Angle Land comes next. This horse had several wins during the winter on the AW, and despite falling behind Lihou at Epsom and Dream Composer at Goodwood, it still has potential. The 5lb pull might not be enough to beat the top two, but a solid performance could be on the cards.
  4. Watchya – Fourth in line with a total score of 334.6, Watchya’s handicap wins during 2022 put this horse in contention. Watchya’s recent performance at Windsor earlier this week was disappointing, but with a 10lb higher rating, a comeback could be possible.
  5. Dubai Station – With a total score of 326.4, Dubai Station was impressive at Wolverhampton in March but its capability over 5f remains to be seen. The horse needs to bounce back after recent disappointing performances on AW.
  6. The Defiant – The Defiant comes last with a total score of 306.8. Despite being a multiple winner at this trip, the horse tends to perform at a lower level and being 7lb out of the weights is not ideal.

In conclusion, Dream Composer and Lihou stand as strong contenders, with Dream Composer expected to be in better form and Lihou’s recent turf form being notable. Angle Land and Watchya have a strong potential to surprise us. However, Dubai Station and The Defiant will need to pull off something special to be in the winning frame, given their current form and ratings.
