- Horse’s Past Performance (LR, 2LR, 3LR, etc.): The horse’s performance in previous races is one of the primary factors taken into account. These are based on the horse’s last 10 runs, with the highest score allotted to the most recent race and the lowest score to the tenth race back.
- Level (Lvl): This represents an average score awarded to horses that have not run 10 times. This allows for a fair comparison even for horses with fewer past performances.
- Hours (Hrs): “Hrs” represents the total score of the horse, including the “Lvl” rating. It encompasses a holistic evaluation of the horse’s performance, fitness, and racing history.
- Speed (Spd): This rating pertains to the horse’s average speed over past races.
- Jockey (Jck) and Trainer (Trn): The performance and experience of a horse’s jockey and trainer can significantly influence its performance in a race.
- Today (Tdy): This rating represents a calculation based on factors specific to the day’s race, such as the horse’s past performance under similar conditions (e.g., going, distance, course).
Each horse gets a total rating (Total) that reflects a combination or weighted sum of these factors. The odds could be compared to these ratings (67% of winners are in the top 4 ranked and around 25% Top ranked) to make value bets. Remember, while these ratings are a useful tool for making informed betting decisions, they are not guarantees of a horse’s performance.
