3.25 Newton Abbot (6 runners)
Fiddy Thornes Birthday Handicap Hurdle
2m5½f

Based on the ratings provided, here’s the ranking of the runners from highest to lowest:

  1. Pyramid Place (IRE) – 562.2
  2. San Giovanni (IRE) – 439.8
  3. Eritage (FR) – 409.0
  4. Thirtyfourstitches (IRE) – 398.4
  5. Vision Des Flos (FR) – 339.1
  6. Blackhillsofdakota (IRE) – 204.3

Let’s assess the comments for each runner:

  1. Blackhillsofdakota (IRE): Pulled up in his first start after a long layoff. Needs to show significant improvement and stronger betting support to be considered.
  2. Eritage (FR): Generally disappointing since joining the current stable but returned from a layoff with a respectable third-place finish at Worcester. Possibilities if able to build on that performance. Suited by good/good to soft ground.
  3. Pyramid Place (IRE): Won at Cartmel in May and still on a workable mark after a 3lb rise. Ground conditions won’t be a problem. Must be considered.
  4. San Giovanni (IRE): Won twice in novice company, including over the same course and distance. Not seen since a defeat in a valuable series final. In calmer waters here and still has potential. Has won on good to soft ground.
  5. Thirtyfourstitches (IRE): Had a mixed campaign last season but picked up two wins, including one at Plumpton. Not seen since a poor performance in April. Current mark is workable if in the right mood. Has won on good and soft ground.
  6. Vision Des Flos (FR): Better known as a chaser but was fourth over hurdles at Fontwell. Went close off a higher mark over the same course and distance last summer. Ground conditions are not a concern. Could be the answer.

Based on this analysis, Pyramid Place appears to be the best pick. With the highest rating and a recent win at Cartmel, Pyramid Place is in good form and has a workable mark. San Giovanni and Eritage also have chances, given their previous successes and suitability to the ground conditions. However, Pyramid Place stands out as the top choice.

  1. Bella Blue Eyes (IRE) – 467.6
  2. Nations Call (IRE) – 443.4
  3. Mr Lincoln – 406.1
  4. Sea Chariot – 403.1
  5. Starry Heavens (IRE) – 373.3

Let’s assess the comments for each runner:

  1. Bella Blue Eyes (IRE): Runner-up in a Tipperary maiden and recently won a 7f maiden at Leopardstown, with the runner-up winning easily next time out. Capable of making her presence felt.
  2. Mr Lincoln: Upset winner of a maiden at Cork on reappearance. Attempted a Group 3 in the Derby Trial at Leopardstown but finished behind Nations Call on handicap debut. Meeting that rival on less favorable terms.
  3. Nations Call (IRE): Placed twice over 1m2f and won a front-running 1m maiden at Gowran. Creditable third in his first handicap over 1m1f at the Curragh. Holds an edge over Mr Lincoln based on that form and well suited by the race conditions.
  4. Sea Chariot: Won at Dundalk in March and finished fifth on handicap/turf debut at Naas. Not suited by recent race conditions and faces Nations Call on less favorable terms.
  5. Starry Heavens (IRE): Won a 1m maiden at the Curragh and ran well in a Group 3 race. Recent runs at Cork and Killarney suggest a decline in form. Cheekpieces are now tried.

Based on this analysis, Bella Blue Eyes stands out as the best pick. With the highest rating and recent success in a maiden at Leopardstown, Bella Blue Eyes has shown good form and potential. Nations Call is the main rival, given the strong performances in previous races and favorable race conditions. However, Bella Blue Eyes appears to have the edge.

6.20 Killarney (10 runners)
William Hill Extra Place Races Daily Handicap
1m

Based on the ratings provided, here’s the ranking of the runners from highest to lowest:

  1. Fleetfootsoldier (IRE) – 468.5
  2. Alabama Pearl (IRE) – 310.7
  3. Hotaugustnight (IRE) – 327.7
  4. One Boss – 322.9
  5. Dappled Light – 297.9
  6. Status Green (IRE) – 284.2
  7. Emorcee (IRE) – 272.5
  8. Lady Christa (IRE) – 243.0
  9. Ano Manna (IRE) – 235.1
  10. Louis Le Broc (IRE) – 218.9

Let’s assess the comments for each runner:

  1. Fleetfootsoldier (IRE): Returned in good form, winning at Dundalk over 1m and finishing second over 7f. Won readily at Bellewstown on turf debut and should be competitive off a higher mark.
  2. Alabama Pearl (IRE): Eight-race maiden who hasn’t built on early promise. Beaten 7 lengths in a 1m1f handicap at Tipperary last time, so a 3lb rise may count against her.
  3. Hotaugustnight (IRE): Placed in two of four maiden starts. Remote second to a hot favorite over 1m at Naas last time. Opening handicap mark seems fair enough.
  4. One Boss: Showed promise last year, including a third-place finish in a nursery at Leopardstown. Fifth on all three handicap outings this season and needs to find extra to be competitive.
  5. Dappled Light: C&D winner in May and showed ability at Dundalk. Poor run at Tipperary was too bad to be true. Could bounce back based on previous success at Killarney.
  6. Status Green (IRE): Best maiden run came at Limerick over 1m on yielding-to-soft ground. Disappointing performance on handicap debut at Tipperary and is safely held by Alabama Pearl.
  7. Emorcee (IRE): Long-priced second in a 7f maiden at Dundalk. Mixed performances before a close fourth at Roscommon. Can be competitive if reproducing that form.
  8. Lady Christa (IRE): Unlucky with trouble in running in two Leopardstown outings. Potential for improvement, but others have more obvious credentials.
  9. Ano Manna (IRE): Never involved on handicap debut at Leopardstown, but attracted support at Naas despite being hampered by a faller. Shouldn’t be ruled out.
  10. Louis Le Broc (IRE): Modest form in maidens and failed to reach the top eight in three handicap starts. Difficult to make a case for him.

Based on this analysis, Fleetfootsoldier appears to be the best pick. With the highest rating and recent success at Bellewstown, Fleetfootsoldier has shown good form and competitiveness. Alabama Pearl and Hotaugustnight could be considered as potential challengers, but Fleetfootsoldier has the edge based on ratings and recent performance.

Let’s assess the comments for each runner:

  1. Just Janet: Has a win on AW at Southwell. Runner-up in three 6f handicaps and won comfortably over 7f at Catterick last time out. Carries a penalty but in good form and a strong contender.
  2. Comedian Leader: Improved this winter with four 7f handicap wins on Tapeta. Recent form hasn’t been at her best on AW, but dropping back in grade. Higher weight and tough draw may pose challenges.
  3. Nogos Dream: Won a 5f maiden at Wolverhampton (Tapeta) and has run well in handicaps, including a fourth at Newmarket and a close fourth at Windsor. Still unexposed at this trip and respected back on AW.
  4. Roaring Ralph: Mixed record but won by 4l at Redcar and finished third in a 7f handicap at Doncaster. Lower weight on return to Tapeta and has each-way claims.
  5. Dutch Kingdom (IRE): Won on handicap debut at Kempton but struggled in his last three runs, including a 16l defeat at Newbury. Drops back to 7f and has something to prove on Tapeta.
  6. Giant: Best form has come on AW, including a maiden win at Chelmsford. Disappointing runs on turf but wasn’t beaten far at Yarmouth last time. Still has potential and dangerous back on Tapeta.
  7. Pocket The Packet (IRE): Disappointing turf runs but has a good record on AW, including a convincing win at Lingfield over 7f. Well treated if he can recapture that form.
  8. Fools And Horses: Showed promise in novice events but was well held on handicap/seasonal debut. Unexposed with only four starts, but needs improvement back at this trip.
  9. Superluminal: Well held in all four starts, including last of ten on handicap debut at Lingfield. Needs a significant improvement on the switch to Tapeta.

Based on this analysis, Just Janet appears to be the best pick. With the highest rating and recent success over 7f, Just Janet is in good form and has the potential to perform well on Tapeta. Comedian Leader and Nogos Dream are also contenders, but Just Janet stands out as the top choice.

  1. Coco Bear (IRE) – 517.0
  2. Justcallmepete – 466.7
  3. Dark Trooper (IRE) – 422.1
  4. Mojomaker (IRE) – 417.1
  5. Treacherous – 412.7
  6. Aljari – 403.3
  7. Vape – 394.4
  8. Hiatus (IRE) – 341.8
  9. A Sure Welcome – 334.0
  10. Dakota Power – 315.4
  11. Full Authority (IRE) – 315.0

Let’s assess the comments for each runner:

  1. Coco Bear (IRE): Enjoying a fine season with three wins over 6f on soft ground. Best on slower than good ground, so the conditions will play a significant role in his chances.
  2. Justcallmepete: Had a successful time on AW with a four-timer over the winter. Has run well in defeat since, including a recent run without blinkers. The return of headgear today should put him in contention.
  3. Dark Trooper (IRE): Two wins over 7f on Polytrack but has performed well over 6f on turf. Weight may be a concern, but with limited starts, improvement is possible.
  4. Mojomaker (IRE): Hasn’t won in over two years but has shown creditable performances this season. Ran into well-handicapped horses in his last outing. Lower weight today and shouldn’t be underestimated.
  5. Treacherous: Late winner at Newbury off a lower mark last month. Finished behind Justcallmepete over C&D but not at his best last time. Each-way claims if he can return to form.
  6. Aljari: Returned from a break with a convincing win at Lingfield over 7f on AW. Higher weight poses a tougher challenge, and unplaced in three turf runs. Others may be stronger contenders.
  7. Vape: Won twice over C&D last season. Off the mark for 2023 and showed better form in defeat at Newbury. Not at his best in a weaker race last time but capable of bouncing back.
  8. Hiatus (IRE): Won over C&D on soft ground but struggled in handicaps since. Others in the field appear stronger.
  9. A Sure Welcome: Won 15 times, including three at this track. Recent form hasn’t been at his best with a change of yards. Drying ground could benefit his chances.
  10. Dakota Power: Showed promise on AW as a 2-year-old and returned from a long break with a respectable run at Newbury. Dropped in weight and should be sharper today.
  11. Full Authority (IRE): Ended time with Jane Chapple-Hyam quietly and finished down the field on stable debut. Lower weight but has plenty to prove.

Based on this analysis, Coco Bear (IRE) stands out as the best pick. With an impressive season and strong performances on soft ground, Coco Bear has shown consistency. However, the conditions will be crucial for his chances. Justcallmepete and Dark Trooper (IRE) are also contenders, but Coco Bear’s form and rating make him the top choice.

1m2f

Based on the ratings provided, here’s the ranking of the runners from highest to lowest:

  2. Natzor (FR) – 391.5
  3. Forest Demon (IRE) – 380.5
  4. Molly Valentine (IRE) – 361.9
  5. Lexington Hero – 342.1
  6. Different Tone – 341.8
  7. Tribute (IRE) – 322.3
  8. Whispering Royal (IRE) – 318.7
  9. Tiffany (IRE) – 296.9
  10. Fougere – 235.9

Let’s assess the comments for each runner:

  1. Absolute Queen (IRE): Ran respectably in her sole start on soft ground. Wore cheekpieces in her last four starts, winning two handicaps at Bath and Windsor. Drop back in trip looks fine, and she’s on the up.
  2. Natzor (FR): Well beaten in two runs over 1m2f on soft ground in April. Showed significant improvement when placed over 1m at Newbury and Bath in his two handicaps. Cheekpieces added. Bred for 1m2f+, making him an interesting contender.
  3. Forest Demon (IRE): Well beaten on soft ground in his reappearance. Showed good form with a third-place finish at Newmarket over 1m on good ground. Not sure if the new trip will suit, but headgear is enlisted.
  4. Molly Valentine (IRE): Won at Nottingham over 1m on soft ground in April and followed up with two creditable minor placings on AW. Needs a bit more, but her success at Nottingham makes her worth a try at 1m2f.
  5. Lexington Hero: Won a seller on his second start and was runner-up in his next two outings, including a 1m4f handicap. Hasn’t fared well when front-running in his last two turf handicaps. Drop back in trip could be beneficial, but others appear more solid.
  6. Different Tone: Finished second of six in a classified on his return at Salisbury but had a slow start on his handicap debut at Haydock. Needs to prove himself for now, as the penultimate form is much better than the rest.
  7. Tribute (IRE): Close third at Southwell AW over 1m on his second start, but his other three runs on good ground haven’t been as impressive. Finished last of seven on his handicap debut over 1m2f at Newbury. First-time headgear is tried.
  8. Whispering Royal (IRE): Won a Dundalk maiden (1m, AW) on debut for Barry Fitzgerald. Made a creditable stable and turf debut, finishing fourth of five in a novice at Doncaster over 1m2f on good ground. Needs improvement, but could come on from that run in his first handicap.
  9. Tiffany (IRE): Won a Wolverhampton novice (7f, AW) as a 22-1 outsider on her third start. Favoured in a 9.4f handicap at Wolverhampton but the race was voided. Bred to be suited by 1m2f+ and one to note.
  10. Fougere: Finished second of five on her handicap debut at Nottingham over 1m2f on heavy ground in May. Raced too freely at Leicester and had a troubled run, so better than the bare result. Shouldn’t be dismissed.

Based on this analysis, Absolute Queen stands out as the best pick. With consistent performances and recent wins in handicaps at Bath and Windsor, Absolute Queen is on an upward trajectory. The drop back in trip is favourable, and she has shown the ability to handle soft ground. Considering her form and potential for further improvement, Absolute Queen appears to be the strongest choice in this race.
