13:55 Taunton – ADMIRALTY HOUSE (Value Play)
This looks like a fiercely competitive handicap hurdle, but ADMIRALTY HOUSE catches the eye as a standout value proposition at current odds. The market may be underestimating his potential, especially considering the expected very strong pace.
Alan King’s gelding has shown a tendency to pull hard in his races, but that trait could be neutralised today given the anticipated race tempo. A strong gallop should allow him to settle better at the rear, where he’s most effective, before unleashing his finishing kick. His good record when trading above Betfair SP suggests he often defies market expectations, and the Timeform adjustment further strengthens his case—boosting his rating to 132, the highest in the field.
His recent third at Haydock was full of promise, especially given the testing conditions that day. Today’s less demanding ground should see him to better effect, and with the field likely to go hard early, he’s perfectly placed to pick up the pieces late on.
While Campaign Trail is the market leader, his disappointing effort last time raises questions, and I’d argue ADMIRALTY HOUSE offers far better value given his form profile and how the race is likely to unfold.
Verdict: Back ADMIRALTY HOUSE each-way, with the strong pace playing into his hands and current odds offering generous value against more exposed rivals.
