15:25 at Fairyhouse

·

In today’s 15:25 at Fairyhouse, the Treo Eile Supporting Racehorse Aftercare Mares Maiden Hurdle, the market has made Karoline Banbou (FR) the clear favourite at 4/6, but there’s a compelling case to look beyond the obvious.

Place de La Nation (FR) is my strongest contender. Despite being the second favourite at 11/4, she boasts an adjusted Timeform rating of 140, significantly higher than Karoline Banbou’s 130. This suggests the market might be underestimating her potential. Trained by Willie Mullins, who has a 26% strike rate at Fairyhouse and an exceptional record in this race, Place de La Nation shaped well on her debut in France and appears to have plenty of improvement left.

The pace forecast suggests an even tempo, which should suit Place de La Nation perfectly, given her tactical versatility. Furthermore, the heavy going could play to her strengths, with her pedigree indicating stamina and the ability to handle testing conditions.

While the market has rightly focused on Karoline Banbou’s promising debut, it seems to have overlooked the sheer potential of her stablemate. Place de La Nation offers better value at the current odds and could very well outshine the favourite.
