Small Doses showed clear improvement in his latest run at Punchestown, finishing 4th of 22 behind Ethical Diamond in a maiden hurdle. He travelled well, took closer order before 3 out, and kept on under pressure, suggesting there’s more to come now he’s qualified for handicaps.
Where Next?
Given his staying pedigree—being a half-brother to Mrs Milner, a 3m winner—Small Doses looks well-suited to a step up in trip. He’s likely to be competitive in staying handicap hurdles over 2½ miles or further. Soft ground didn’t pose a problem last time out, but good-to-soft conditions should suit just as well.
Tracks to Consider:
Look out for entries at stiffer tracks like Navan, Gowran Park, or Fairyhouse, where his stamina can come into play. He’s open to further improvement and could go close in a low-grade staying handicap in the coming weeks.
