14:10 Navan – Ryan’s Cleaning Apple’s Jade Mares’ Novice Hurdle (Listed) – 2m4f, Soft to Heavy

·

This Listed mares’ novice hurdle looks a tightly contested affair, with TAREZE (2/1) heading the market after an excellent runner-up effort in a stronger contest last time. She’s clearly the most solid contender, having chased home a well-regarded winner at Punchestown, and the way she moved through that race suggests she should be difficult to beat here. The slower early pace expected here should suit her style, as she travels well and can quicken when needed.

However, at the prices, there’s one who might have been underestimated by the market.

🔹 GRAINNE A CHROI (8/1) is completely unexposed but has done little wrong so far. She was visually impressive when winning her mares’ maiden by 7½ lengths, travelling strongly and putting the race to bed in a matter of strides. The bare form isn’t anything special, but the way she did it suggests she could be capable of stepping up significantly. If she was trained by one of the bigger yards, she’d almost certainly be a shorter price.

🔹 BLUE MOSQUE (7/2) is another interesting contender, with strong novice form, but she may struggle if this turns into a tactical race. She needs a strong pace to bring out her best, and the fact that a weak pace is forecast is a concern.

🔹 MAGIC BOUM (6/1) ran well below form last time, but it’s possible that effort can be forgiven. However, she doesn’t have a standout piece of form to suggest she can bounce back and mix it at this level just yet.

Verdict:
TAREZE is clearly the one to beat, but at 2/1, there’s little juice left in the price.
💡 GRAINNE A CHROI (8/1) could be the one the market is underestimating. She looked a potential improver last time and, given how she moved through the race, she could surprise at a price.

A win bet on TAREZE looks the safe play, but for those looking for value, an each-way bet on GRAINNE A CHROI at 8/1 makes plenty of sense.
