The 1:15 at Ascot is a competitive Class 3 handicap hurdle over 2m7f118y, with several in-form runners and improving types. One horse that stands out as the strongest contender is Thank You Ma’am. A recent winner at this course over a similar trip, this gelding relished the stamina test and should find conditions ideal once again. His front-running style is well-suited to this race, and with cheekpieces retained, he could prove tough to catch.

Hardy Fella is another strong candidate, having scored decisively at Market Rasen last time out. Proven over similar trips and on soft ground, he remains fairly handicapped and has the added benefit of Harry Cobden in the saddle.

One that the market may be overlooking is Blue Hop. His recent Doncaster win was impressive, travelling smoothly and quickening smartly when asked. At 9/1, he offers good value, particularly with conditions to suit.

While Bective Abbey is an obvious improver from a top yard, the step up in trip and class is a concern at short odds. In a race where stamina and proven form at this level could be crucial, Thank You Ma’am and Blue Hop appeal most, with Hardy Fella a significant threat.
