2:30 Musselburgh – Racing TV Profits Returned to Racing Mares’ Maiden Hurdle (2m3f171y, Gd/Sft)

·

The market understandably favours Jasmine D’airy (7/4), and there is plenty to like about her profile. A comfortable bumper winner at Tipperary, she displayed fair form in two hurdle runs for Harry Derham, finishing fifth behind That’s Nice at Warwick despite racing freely. With a six-week break to freshen up, she holds leading claims if settling better this time.

However, Vanilla Dancer (4/1) stands out as a potential value play the market might be underestimating. She has hit the frame in each of her last three outings, most recently when narrowly beaten at Sedgefield. Proven over similar trips and on testing ground, she boasts the stamina and consistency to pose a serious threat, particularly if the race develops into a test of staying power.

Irisante (5/1) brings intriguing international form from her time in Germany and France, but her performances since joining D.J. Jeffreys have yet to reach the same heights, and this step up in trip raises questions.

Hay Meadow (6/1) has potential after showing promise in bumpers and Irish points, but she will need to improve on her modest hurdles form so far.

With no obvious front-runner, the race could be run at a steady gallop, which would suit Vanilla Dancer, who has shown she can maintain her form under pressure late on.

Strongest Contender: Jasmine D’airy – If settling better, her class should shine through.

Value Pick: Vanilla Dancer – Consistent and battle-hardened, she offers appeal at current odds.
