1:20 Carlisle – Conditional Jockeys Novices’ Limited Handicap Hurdle (2m3½f, Good to Soft)

·

This looks a competitive Class 5 handicap hurdle, but one runner stands out as the most likely winner given the race conditions and recent form.

Bishbashbosh has steadily improved with each run this season and now finds himself in what looks like a very winnable contest. His latest run earned him a strong rating, and the step up in trip on softish ground should suit perfectly. Carlisle often rewards prominent runners in hurdle races, and with his tendency to race up with the pace, he is likely to have a tactical advantage. Donald McCain’s record at Carlisle is well known, and Theo Gillard’s conditional claim is another positive. The current market price of around 3/1 feels fair given his form, suitability, and likely race position, making him the standout selection.

While the market has understandably latched onto Kingston Rock, there may be more to come from My Lady Elektra at an appealing price. Lightly raced and trained by James Moffatt, whose runners often thrive at Carlisle, she showed significant improvement last time out. If she can progress further, she may outrun her current odds of 13/2, especially if allowed to sit just behind the early pace.

Selection: Bishbashbosh – Solid recent form, pace angle advantage, and well suited to conditions.
Value Pick: My Lady Elektra – Improving profile from a stable with a strong track record; overpriced in the current market.
