This is an early assessment of the 3.35 at Ayr on Friday, and it’s important to point out that the betting market can and probably will shift before the off. This isn’t a final verdict – prices may move, conditions might change, and late money could reshape the race completely. But here’s how things stand the evening before, using our Tissue v2+Timeform model.
How We Work Out Fair Odds
Our process starts with HRB TIMEWISE ratings and rankings, adjusting the raw numbers based on the shape of the field and historical win percentages. We apply rank-based percentage boosts to horses who fit strong profiles, and we downgrade those with clear negatives.
We also layer in Timeform insights, such as:
- Pace forecasts (how the race is likely to be run).
- Smart Stats (trainer/jockey records, profitable angles).
- Analyst verdicts (who’s likely to improve).
Finally, we compare our tissue (our idea of fair odds) to the live market to flag value, overreactions, and short-priced risks.
Our Fair Odds – Tissue v2+Timeform
| Horse | Fair Odds (Tissue) |
|---|---|
| Royal Rhythm | 3/1 |
| Vampire Slayer | 4/1 |
| Mix De Gris | 9/2 |
| Ballyfort | 5/1 |
| Ghumama | 12/1 |
| O’Faolains Glory | 16/1 |
| Rest | 20/1+ |
This sets our view of what would count as a fair price based on the data. When live odds are bigger than these numbers, that’s where we start to see value.
Current Market (Evening Before)
| Horse | William Hill Odds |
|---|---|
| Royal Rhythm | 3/1 |
| Vampire Slayer | 4/1 |
| Mix De Gris | 4/1 |
| Ballyfort | 4/1 |
| Ghumama | 13/2 |
| O’Faolains Glory | 10/1 |
| Rest | 20/1+ |
What That Tells Us
Right now, most of the top four are trading around their fair prices. Royal Rhythm, Vampire Slayer, Mix De Gris, and Ballyfort are all within touching distance of what we expected. No major value leaps out, but it’s not an overbought market yet either.
The notable move has been Ghumama, backed in from double figures into 13/2. That’s a massive cut from earlier tissue projections, and at this stage, we’d argue the value on her is long gone.
Early Conclusions
- Royal Rhythm is rock solid. Reliable profile, top-rated, running well, but no giveaway at 3/1.
- Vampire Slayer still appeals as the likely improver. If 9/2 or bigger becomes available tomorrow, that’s probably the play.
- Ballyfort and Mix De Gris are hovering around fair but getting tight.
- Ghumama‘s price collapse looks overdone.
Next Steps
This is a race to monitor. The market could easily reshuffle by morning. If the bigger prices come on the right horses, there might be value to be had. But if the current market holds firm, we may be left waiting for better opportunities elsewhere.
