The Contrarian’s View – Irish Lincolnshire (15:45 Curragh, Sunday)

·

Big fields, soft ground, and a strong end-to-end gallop — just how I like my betting puzzles.

Plenty will get suckered in by the flashy figures and favoured names, but in these big-field Premier handicaps, the real value lies in the shadows. Let’s cut through the hype.

GLENEAGLE BAY? Sure, the form’s rock solid and the trainer’s flying, but 3/1 in a 29-runner cavalry charge on soft ground? That’s not value, that’s wishful thinking.

ORANDI is far more my style — consistent, tactically perfect for this setup, and keeps getting overlooked by the market. This could be the day it clicks. He’ll be rattling home when others are empty.

RAADOBARG is another lurking danger. Change of stable, back fresh, and loaded with back-class. Don’t be surprised if he relishes this setup and slices through late.

And if you want a proper contrarian flyer — INDEPENDENT EXPERT fits the bill. Strong Cambridgeshire form, new yard uplift, late-run style ideal for this melt-up pace. At 20/1+, I’m more than interested.

Don’t forget TITANIUM — ignored after a slightly wide run last time, but still shaped with purpose. He’s not done improving yet.

Let the masses chase hype and short prices. I’ll sit patiently with the value runners who fit the race, fit the pace, and beat the price.

Contrarian’s Portfolio (win/place each-way split):
→ ORANDI 12/1
→ RAADOBARG 8/1
→ INDEPENDENT EXPERT 22/1
→ TITANIUM 33/1

Avoid the noise. Follow the value. Bet like a contrarian.
