4:52 Southwell – 5f Class 4 Handicap (3yo)

·

A competitive sprint, but the speed figures point clearly to a few standout contenders.

Strongest Contender – Blinky
Blinky brings the most solid profile to this race, with consistently strong figures at both the track and the trip. He’s already proven on the Southwell Tapeta, boasting the highest average speed rating at this venue and a strong max at 5f. His recent form is reliable and he looks well suited to the race conditions. Very much the one to beat.

Main Danger – Havana Gila
Havana Gila has the highest overall peak speed figure in the field and his recent runs show a clear upward trend. Although unproven at Southwell, his trip figures are solid and suggest he can handle this test. If reproducing his best, he’ll be a serious threat.

Each-Way Value – Captain Kinsella
Captain Kinsella is a bit of a wild card, but one with definite upside. He holds the highest Southwell speed figure of any in the field, as well as a strong max at the trip. His form is a little inconsistent, but he’s dangerous under the right conditions and could hit the frame at a fair price.
