This is a low-grade handicap but there’s enough data here to find an angle.
Top Contender – Life On The Rocks (9/4)
Ticks just about every box on the stats. Course, distance, class – all suit. Good record when favourite (100%), and he’s done well under today’s race conditions before. Breeding stats also back him for this trip and surface. No value at the price, but hard to knock on profile.
Solid Value – Calcutta Dream (6/1)
Comes in with solid recent form (33% win/place last 3 runs), strong at the track, and connections (M W Easterby/Joanna Mason) are in form. Plenty of green in the class/going stats too. Value bet if the price holds up.
Dark Horse – Eva Rosie (13/2)
Strong last-time-out stats, trainer has been going well lately, and breeding suggests she’s suited to these conditions. Not flashy, but consistent and under the radar in the market.
Other Notes:
Violeta (11/2) also has strong course and distance stats, and could go well if getting a good early position.
Rampant has good pedigree (Roaring Lion x Oasis Dream) but poor recent form.
Mr Coco Bean looks up against it on all recent stats.
Tactics/Pace:
No obvious front-runner in the field, so this might be slowly run. That could suit a handy type like Life On The Rocks or Violeta, while closers like Eva Rosie will need a bit of luck.
Conclusion:
Best Bet: Calcutta Dream (6/1) – strong recent and course stats, fair price.
Each-Way Shout: Eva Rosie (13/2) – consistent, overlooked.
Life On The Rocks is most likely winner on paper, but no juice in 9/4.
