7:45 Newcastle – 5f Handicap (Class 6, 0-55)Tuesday 25 March 2025

·

This low-grade 5f sprint at Newcastle looks more open than the market suggests, with several contenders holding genuine chances if things fall right.

Midnightattheoasis heads the betting at 3/1 after winning at Wolverhampton last time. He’s consistent and goes well for Rossa Ryan, but he’s priced on the short side given the depth here. Dash Gordon is next best at 9/2, but arrives off a poor run and needs to bounce back quickly.

The value lies elsewhere. Stallone (10/1) is interesting as he returns to the exact race he won last year. He’s shown signs of life in recent starts, handles the track well, and benefits from a positive trainer-jockey combo. With conditions identical to 2024, he looks overpriced.

Sir Benedict (14/1) is another worth noting. He caught the eye when staying on in a slowly run race last time and should be suited by a stronger pace. He’s underrated in the market.

Sixcor (11/1) ran well over course and distance last month and could easily hit the frame again.

Verdict:
Stallone is taken to repeat last year’s success at a double-figure price. Sir Benedict rates a lively each-way danger, and Sixcor appeals as a solid backup for the places.
