Race Preview – 20:30 Kempton (Wed 26 March 2025)

Unibet More Extra Place Races Handicap (Class 5, 2m, Standard to Slow, 6 runners)

A small but intriguing field lines up for this London Stayers’ Series qualifier over two miles at Kempton, where a tactical affair looks likely with no guaranteed front-runner and Timeform projecting a weak early pace.

Strongest Contender – Legacy Power
Last year’s C&D winner LEGACY POWER appeals most. He returns from a break but has gone well fresh in the past, and the booking of Oisin Murphy (33% strike rate last 30 days, 56% with trainer Balding) adds weight to the case. His Kempton win came in a steadily run race, and with few confirmed pace angles here, he may get a similar setup to use his turn of foot. He’s unexposed at staying trips on the AW and brings a solid adjusted rating edge over this field.

Main Danger – Donald Llewellyn
The main threat could be DONALD LLEWELLYN, who arrives fit and in form having won a 1m4f apprentice handicap at Lingfield last time. That was a smart effort off a strong pace, and he’s a three-time course winner with a 67% place record over C&D. His proven stamina, tactical versatility, and race fitness are major pluses, and he represents good value in a race where others come with small question marks.

Verdict:
LEGACY POWER is taken to resume winning ways under ideal conditions, but DONALD LLEWELLYN may give him most to do if the race turns into a tactical affair. With just six runners, this is a poor each-way betting race, so win-only strategies are advised.
