This is a modest Class 5 handicap hurdle over a staying trip, and with a Very Weak pace forecast, race positioning could prove key. Horses able to race handily or travel strongly near the front may have a tactical advantage. Several arrive with questions to answer, but a handful look well-treated or interesting on past form or recent performance.
Leading Contenders
JACK THE SAVAGE (TFR 105)
Runner-up over course and distance last month and remains fairly consistent in modest handicap hurdles. That latest run came behind a reliable type, and he pulled clear of the rest, suggesting he’s still competitive off a mark of 99. Has undergone a breathing operation and wears a tongue tie again. Profile says he handles the track, the trip, and likely ground. Trainer Laura Horsfall has yet to win this race but has kept him fresh. Solid claims.
PRESENTING YEATS (TFR 111§)
Returned from a 7-month break with a dominant win at Stratford, drawing clear by 9½ lengths. Has form at this trip and acts on both good to firm and softer ground. However, he is flagged as temperamental, and backing up that performance isn’t guaranteed. A previous course-and-distance winner with a breathing op behind him, he is on a competitive mark if in the same form again. Market support will be telling, given his profile.
Main Dangers
TELLAIRSUE (GER) (TFR 106)
Returned from a 20-month absence with a promising second at Ludlow. That was in a four-runner race where the winner won comfortably, so he may have been flattered slightly. Still lightly raced for his age and likely retains improvement. Wears cheekpieces and stays this far. Another who has had a breathing op, and any market strength would increase confidence.
LYNESS DANCER (TFR 107)
Trainer Tom Ellis and 3lb conditional Jack Andrews are worth noting – they’ve had good success with placed runners at this level. This 6-year-old has shown some ability in low-grade mares’ events and shaped well when third at Fontwell in March. Pulled up next time, but that came from a more patient ride, which may not have suited. Should be better placed than most in a slowly run race and could sneak into the frame if bouncing back.
Interesting Outsider
ZOFFALEE (FR)
Not seen for 707 days and now 10 years old. Has had a breathing operation and showed modest form over hurdles and fences in the past. Was once capable of fair form and drops into Class 5 for his return. The Mike Sowersby yard isn’t prolific, but market support after such a long break would be notable.
Others
INDIAN SUNBIRD pulled up last time after a 7-month break and has been inconsistent overall. Won off a lower mark last summer but needs to bounce back.
FOX’S SOCKS (FR) and SURREY NEMESIS look out of sorts based on recent form and ratings and would be surprise winners.
Trends and Trainer Notes
No standout trainer trends for this specific race (historical winner info unavailable).
Presenting Yeats and Jack the Savage are both previous course winners, a useful pointer at Huntingdon.
Horses returning from layoffs (60+ days) include Zoffalee, Fox’s Socks, and Presenting Yeats – monitor the market carefully for signs of intent or drift.

Conclusion
JACK THE SAVAGE rates the most solid option, with consistent placed form and course experience. PRESENTING YEATS is the class angle if holding form and temperament, while TELLAIRSUE is respected but needs to prove himself in a truer-run race. LYNESS DANCER could be the best each-way play at a price, especially if ridden forward. Market moves around the returning ZOFFALEE and TELLAIRSUE will be informative.
