Strongest Contenders:

REBEL STAR (TFR 79)
In peak form and the top-rated on Timeform. She followed up a Yarmouth win with a solid third at Wolverhampton in a slightly stronger race. Has proven consistent with the visor retained, and looks to have the pace and profile to be prominent again. Her trainer Robert Cowell has a good record with sprinters at this level.

STORMY PEARL (TFR 78)
Caught the eye when third at Redcar last week, only beaten half a length on return from a break. She’s a mare who can build on that if handling this quicker turnaround. Her best form is at 5–6f and she’s proven on good to firm.

GLORY FIGHTER (TFR 77)
Paul Midgley’s veteran has a decent record fresh and ran below form at Catterick but had previously placed behind Castan at Newcastle. Front-runner who could benefit from the strong pace despite the track’s lack of a draw bias. Trainer currently cold, so market support would be a key signal.

Main Dangers:

HINT OF THE JUNGLE (TFR 74)
Better effort last time when not beaten far by Rebel Star at Yarmouth. Has tended to race freely and be held up, but if settling and getting a good tow into the race, could get involved. Still unexposed with this yard.

ZUFFOLO (TFR 70)
Won twice last year over this trip and may strip fitter after a quiet seasonal return at Beverley. Michael Dods has a good level stakes profit with single runners at flat meetings. Needs to bounce back, but not ruled out.

Interesting Outsiders:

SIOUX WARRIOR (TFR 71)
Lightly raced and not seen to best effect last time. Has changed yards and now down in grade. Has a hint of potential if he gets a more suitable setup, and the return to good ground helps.

DESERT MASTER (TFR 77)
Scored at Southwell in January but out of sorts since. Returns from a breathing op and has dropped in the weights. Trainer Antony Brittain has a mixed record with horses off breaks, so monitor the market.

Trends and Trainer Notes:

Paul Midgley and Robert Cowell both have strong sprinting records at this level.

Horses rated 60–64 dominate recent renewals of similar Class 6 sprints at Nottingham.

Horses wearing headgear (especially visors and blinkers) have often figured well in this grade here.

ZUFFOLO’s trainer Michael Dods is profitable to follow when running just one on a card.

Summary:

REBEL STAR is a solid favourite based on current form and ratings, with STORMY PEARL and GLORY FIGHTER close behind. HINT OF THE JUNGLE may offer each-way value in this 8-runner field, and ZUFFOLO warrants respect if supported in the market. SIOUX WARRIOR is another worth a second glance as a possible improver dropped in grade.
