Overview: A modest 0–100 handicap chase contested by a largely exposed group of Irish handicappers. The pace forecast is weak, which could compromise those needing a strong gallop. It’s a race where profiles, trainer patterns, recent headgear changes, and chase form rather than hurdles form, hold sway. Past winners include mostly 6–8yo types carrying 11st+ in the last four renewals.

Leading Contenders:
1. PERSON OF INTEREST (IRE) [TFR 2 | OR 98]
Returned to John Joe Hanlon and shaped well in first-time cheekpieces over hurdles when third at Clonmel. A fair hurdler with prominent run style and stamina for this trip. Chase debutant, so not a trends pick, but with headgear retained and 85 days off, any support would be significant.
6. ROMAN PARISH (IRE) [TFR 2 | OR 81]
Bit more chase experience than most here. Modest but consistent and likely to race prominently in a weakly-run contest. Fourth on seasonal reappearance at Tramore (3m) and fitter now. The slight drop in trip and a good jockey booking in Sean Flanagan help his case.
3. CALAHILL (IRE) [TFR 111 | OR 89]
Has already won over course and distance and looked a chaser to keep on side early last season. Ran below par on final start but had previously scored here and has strong form for the grade. Off 233 days, but interesting if the market speaks positively.
7. JOLLIE COSMOS (IRE) [TFR 109 | OR 74]
One of the few to show recent form, placed over hurdles at Kilbeggan after a return from points. Chase form less inspiring, but the rise in trip and weak pace forecast both suit. However, P.J. Rothwell’s yard has been underperforming recently (cold trainer flag). Market moves vital.

Main Dangers:
8. WELL LOVED (IRE) [TFR 106 | OR 74]
Better effort on final run for previous yard when fourth at Wexford in a similar contest. Lowly rated, but capable of improving again now tongue-tied on second chase start for a small yard. Needs a step forward but not ruled out.
9. ROBIN DE ROOST (IRE) [TFR 104+ | OR 72]
Veteran at 15, but a course winner and previously rated higher. Pulled up last time (tack issues), and long lay-off a concern (256 days). Might just be one for a nostalgic small-stakes interest if market vibes are positive.

Interesting Outsiders:
2. DEE’S GETAWAY (IRE) [TFR ? | OR 95]
Unexposed over fences, though well held in two chase starts so far. Has won over hurdles and is only 5, so could find improvement now in handicaps. Keith Donoghue is an eye-catching booking at this level.

Trends and Notes:
All winners in the past 4 renewals were rated 74–100 and carried between 10-10 and 11-11.
Ages 6–8 have dominated (all four most recent winners), with 7yo’s scoring twice.
All winners since 2021 were prominent racers or leaders.

Verdict: PERSON OF INTEREST brings in the right sort of profile for a race like this – headgear applied, lightly raced, returning to a previous trainer, and up in trip. ROMAN PARISH is a solid, if modest, chasing option with prominent pace tactics that may be favoured. CALAHILL has strong course form and is worth forgiving a poor run last time. JOLLIE COSMOS has a better chance on paper than his chase form suggests but needs stable form to turn.
With 9 runners declared, each-way value can be considered, particularly for those like WELL LOVED who are low-rated but showing mild signs of life.
