Pace & Draw Angles
A strong early pace is expected with several forward-going fillies declared. Solana Rose, Saucy Jane, and Awraad all contribute to the likely early burn-up.
The low draws are historically favoured over York’s straight 5f, especially on fast ground. That brings Guernsey Lady (stall 1) and Saucy Jane (stall 2) into focus from a positional angle.
However, prominent runners generally dominate this contest rather than closers.
Strongest Contenders
- HARRY’S GIRL (Adj 100+) – Created a strong impression at Newmarket, overcoming greenness to win cosily. The form has been boosted, and she shaped like a filly with Group-level potential. Plenty of speed and was prominent despite signs of inexperience. Major player. 9/10
- LOVE OLIVIA (t99+) – A striking 7½-length winner on AW debut, clearly talented. Timefigure very strong and she travelled powerfully. Trainer Karl Burke has won two of the last three renewals (2022 & 2023), so knows what’s needed. Handles quick ground and must be taken seriously. 9/10
- SAUCY JANE (98+) – Romped home at Beverley and posted a quick figure. Was fast into stride and made all. Has a good draw and her early pace could put many under pressure. Improving and tactically well placed. 8/10
Main Dangers
- ETERNAL SOLACE (92+) – Looked a proper sharp filly when bounding clear at Brighton. Ollie Sangster is emerging as a trainer to follow, and the daughter of Tasleet shaped with a good attitude. However, wide draw in 9 isn’t ideal here and she may need to do it the hard way. 7/10
- ALASKAN LIGHT (83+) – Bred to improve with racing and shaped with promise when second at Ripon. Not fully extended and can take a step forward. May find sharper rivals too fast for her now, but each-way claims. 6/10
- GUERNSEY LADY (83+) – Has been slightly unlucky not to finish closer the last twice. Well berthed in stall 1 and improving steadily. David Evans has landed this meeting’s races at long odds before and is +£65 to £1 level stake when sending just one. Could outrun her odds. 6/10
Interesting Outsiders
- AWRAAD (77) – Knew her job at Pontefract, winning on debut. That was a lesser race, and this is a big step up, but she did it the right way. Trainer relatively untested at this level. 5/10
- SECRET HIDEAWAY (75+) – Green but shaped with ability on debut. Trainer has had a few juvenile winners, though this looks a stiff ask second time up. 4/10
- SOLANA ROSE (No rating) – Unraced, but well bred and the stable is capable of readying one. However, late debut here in a Listed race looks ambitious. 3/10
Trends and Notes
- 7 of the last 10 winners were unbeaten going into this race – Positive for Harry’s Girl, Love Olivia, Saucy Jane, and Eternal Solace.
- Karl Burke has won two of the last three runnings – fields Love Olivia and Alaskan Light.
- Only one winner since 2014 has come from a double-figure stall.
Each-Way Angles (9 runners)
- With 3 places up for grabs and an open betting heat behind the top two, Saucy Jane and Guernsey Lady rate as the value each-way plays from low draws.

Final Observations
- Expect a blistering early pace.
- Stall position and early speed will be critical – look for those in stalls 1–4 who can get prominent.
- Keep an eye on market moves for Solana Rose (debutante) and Awraad, in case of strong support.
- The clash between HARRY’S GIRL and LOVE OLIVIA could be the feature of the day, but this Listed test often rewards fast, professional types – SAUCY JANE fits that mould and looks the most tactically advantaged.
