Race Conditions & Pace/Draw Angles
A big-field 5f handicap for lower-grade older horses. The pace forecast is very strong, with several pace-setters and aggressive types, notably Art of Unity, Far At Sea, and Realitn Fantasy. While front-runners typically do well at this trip here, today’s setup could favour those just off the speed, especially given recent form trends.
No consistent draw bias is flagged at this 5f start at Cork, though middle-to-low is often favoured if the ground rides quick and level.

Strongest Contenders
MY GIRL SIOUX (IRE) (TFR 66) – Exceptionally consistent and was a close second of 19 at Navan just three days ago after racing with the choke out early. Form before that equally strong, with placed efforts in large fields at Naas and Navan. Should be very competitive again if this doesn’t come too soon. Rating: 8/10
CARRIGANS GROVE (IRE) (TFR 69) – Produced a career-best to score at Dundalk last time in a race that’s worked out, and remains lightly raced for a 4yo. If transferring that improvement to turf, she holds a major chance from a workable mark. Rating: 7.5/10
AN LAOCHMOR (IRE) (TFR 63) – Has posted two solid turf runs in big fields this spring, including a close fourth at the Curragh (27 runners). Still a maiden but knocking on the door and well drawn in stall 1. Rating: 7/10

Main Dangers
RATTLETHEONIONBAG (IRE) (?) – Best forgiven recent Sligo run where he didn’t get the clearest passage. Runner-up at Dundalk in March and remains on a competitive mark. This could be more his track. Rating: 6.5/10
ART OF UNITY (TFR 64) – Veteran speedster who won at Bellewstown and the Curragh last season. Absent since October and switches stables. Needs to recapture his spark at age 10, but booking of a 7lb claimer suits his front-running style. Rating: 6/10
REALTIN FANTASY (IRE) (TFR 66) – Better than the bare result last time behind Sam’s Xpress, having done too much early. Capable on her day at this level and drawn wide again, which could help her settle. Rating: 6/10

Interesting Outsiders / Profiles to Monitor
LAKOTA LADY (IRE) (TFR 60) – Wasn’t beaten far when third two starts back and was denied a run last time. May be flying under the radar off 49. Rating: 5.5/10
SAM’S XPRESS (IRE) (TFR 68) – C&D winner last winter, but current form is a concern. Has had excuses lately, though with today’s likely race shape, may be swamped late. Rating: 5.5/10
LIVINGSTON RANGE (IRE) (?) – Often prominent but hasn’t landed a blow for some time. Needs to bounce back and has a tricky draw. Rating: 5/10
WHATSWRONGNOW (IRE) (TFR 62) – Often shapes better than the result but continues to be a hard horse to win with. Rider claims 10lb. Rating: 5/10

Low Confidence Runners
FAR AT SEA (IRE) (TFR 67?) – Looked useful briefly but struggles to finish off races.
DARK ENIGMA – Well held both starts this year and needs to rediscover 2023 form.
QUIET AFFAIR / CARMINA BURANA – Both arrive with form figures and profiles suggesting they’re here for experience rather than prize money.

Final Notes
This looks ripe for My Girl Sioux to get a deserved win, provided she handles the quick turnaround. Carrigans Grove is a danger if transferring AW improvement to turf, and An Laochmor is consistently knocking on the door. Those chasing value could look to Rattletheonionbag, particularly if support comes, and Realtin Fantasy shouldn’t be dismissed if getting a tow into the race. Expect the race to collapse late with this field’s very strong early pace – stamina at 5f and positioning just behind the leaders will be vital.
