Pace Forecast: Very Weak
Draw Bias: Not significant (straight mile at Ayr shows little bias over this field size)
Pace/Draw Analysis:
The anticipated weak pace could favour those racing close up or controlling matters from the front. Garden Oasis is the likeliest leader, with Commanding Prince also capable of being well-positioned. Detective and Samra Star tend to race off the pace and may be at a tactical disadvantage unless the race unexpectedly collapses late.

Contenders and Profiles (Timeform Ratings in brackets):
COMMANDING PRINCE (TFR 94) – Rating: 8/10
Lightly raced and progressive earlier this year with two straightforward AW wins. He didn’t quite improve for a switch to turf/handicaps at Bath (third of five) but still ran with credit after a short break. The application of cheekpieces may sharpen him up. Yard in form. Well-drawn and should be forwardly placed. Related to Masar and from a strong family.
GARDEN OASIS (TFR 93) – Rating: 7.5/10
Tough and likeable veteran with seven C&D wins on his CV. Dead-heated at Ripon last time and seems to be running as well as ever at 10 years old. Will likely try to dictate and may prove hard to peg back if given an uncontested lead, although he’s vulnerable to a younger improver.
ABDUCTION (TFR 94) – Rating: 7.5/10
Course winner who was narrowly denied at Haydock last time despite being hampered late. He is proven on this sort of ground and trip, and the Goldie yard is in solid form. Versatile in terms of pace but usually ridden quietly – could be slightly inconvenienced by the likely steady tempo, but finishing effort is strong when things fall right.
HALE END (TFR 95) – Rating: 7/10
Another course scorer with form at this trip. Hasn’t had much go right in two runs this season (hampered and caught in a messy race at Newcastle last time). Fairly handicapped if he gets a clear run. Slightly better suited by stronger gallops. Capable if everything drops right but needs a career-best to defy current mark.
DETECTIVE (TFR 93) – Rating: 6.5/10
A nine-time winner who stays further and was third at Musselburgh prior to finishing last at Hamilton. Trainer Dianne Sayer has a noted +£80 level stakes profit when sending one runner to a flat meeting – so worth noting. However, a weak pace and his usual hold-up style could work against him.
SAMRA STAR (TFR 82) – Rating: 3/10
Out of form since joining current yard and has finished last on both outings this spring. A winner for Richard Hughes last year on the AW but hard to recommend based on recent turf evidence. Would need a significant form revival. Trainer is cold.
—
Trainer Trends:
No prior winners of this race noted for the trainers involved.
Dianne Sayer’s single runner stat is worth monitoring for Detective (profit to £1 level stake when sole runner at a flat meeting).
Jim Goldie is in better current form than Linda Perratt or Michael Dods.

Notable Timeform Comments & Flags:
Commanding Prince: “Well worth another chance”; cheekpieces first time.
Abduction: “Looked unlucky last time”; flagged as a course horse.
Hale End: “Not seen to best effect” in both 2025 runs; also flagged as a course specialist.
Samra Star: Trainer cold and horse regularly slowly away – caution advised.
—
Market Watch Notes:
Commanding Prince (16-day layoff) and Abduction (11 days) both return quickly and fit the profile of active horses who hold their form.
No runners off 90+ days in this field.
Samra Star’s dramatic recent declines warrant monitoring for any unexpected support.
If Detective is notably backed, it may relate to the Sayer one-runner stat.

Summary Ratings (Out of 10):
Horse Rating
Commanding Prince 8
Abduction 7.5
Garden Oasis 7.5
Hale End 7
Detective 6.5
Samra Star 3

Tissue Price Estimate:
1. Commanding Prince – 2/1
2. Abduction – 3/1
3. Garden Oasis – 3/1
4. Hale End – 6/1
5. Detective – 9/1
6. Samra Star – 33/1
—
Conclusion: Commanding Prince brings untapped potential on turf and looks the most likely winner granted tactical advantages in a slowly-run race. Abduction and Garden Oasis are both solid contenders with track form, while Hale End could bounce back with luck in running. Detective may want a stronger gallop, and Samra Star needs a turnaround. Watch the market for signs of a springer.
