1. Pace/Draw Overview

With a very weak pace forecast, those who race prominently or make the running are likely to be advantaged. ILIKEDWAYURTHINKIN and MORODER both tend to be up with the pace and are well suited, whereas SIBERIAN STAR may struggle if dropped in.

2. Contenders, Dangers & Outsiders

Leading Contenders

ILIKEDWAYURTHINKIN (TFR 136) – Won twice over fences at Cartmel last summer and followed up at Ayr and Newcastle. Pulled up in the Eider, but that marathon may have stretched him. Freshened up since, he’s got the course form, race position, and profile to be the one to beat.

FUJI FLIGHT (TFR ?) – Lightly raced since early 2023, but showed promise when third on his return from 2+ years off. Venetia Williams does well with staying types, and this test could suit, though he’s not guaranteed to build on his comeback.

SIBERIAN STAR (TFR 134) – In good form and placed on four of his last five starts. Questionable attitude late on and may not appreciate a tactical setup, but his overall consistency puts him in the mix.

Dangers

EQUUS DANCER (TFR ?) – Once a smart type, but only fourth and sixth since returning from a long absence. Needs to recapture former spark but Sean Bowen is a plus.

MORODER (TFR 135§) – Inconsistent but landed the Grimthorpe in March at a huge price. Disappointed since and isn’t reliable, but prominent style and stamina are positives.

Interesting Outsiders

AMATEUR (TFR 127§) – Occasionally pops up at a big price but has become unpredictable. Might try to go forward early, and that could help him outperform odds if others underperform.

ENJOY D’ALLEN (TFR 131§) – Formerly smart but now on the downgrade and showing little since moving to Neil King. Yard has a good single-runner record though, so not totally dismissed for a late place if they’ve found a spark.

3. Ratings (out of 10)

Ilikedwayurthinkin B Haslam 136 8 Course form, good prep, pace favours
Fuji Flight V Williams ? 7 Interesting on second run back; stamina angle
Siberian Star M Bowen 134 7 Consistent but risky if no pace

Moroder S Mullins 135§ 6 Hard to catch right but stays well
Enjoy D’Allen N King 131§ 5 On the downgrade but has ability if revived
Amateur J&R Flint 127§ 4 One-paced and unreliable but might go forward

> Note: Enjoy D’Allen, Moroder, and Amateur all return from relatively recent poor efforts — monitor the market for support.
Trainer angles: Neil King’s runners in chases as sole reps have returned £45 LSP – Enjoy D’Allen is his only runner here.
Historical trend: No standout trainer dominance in this race, but recent winners like Mill Green and Jerry’s Back were classy sorts suited to stamina tests.
