1. Race Conditions & Pace Angle
Trip/Type: 2m3f104y Handicap Chase (Class 5, 0–100 rating band)
Surface: Turf – Good (Good to Soft in places)
Field Size: 9 runners
Pace Forecast: Strong
Pace Angle: The pace looks likely to be contested early. This could count against front-runners such as Gorcombe Moonshine, while hold-up types like Millies Mite may be better suited, assuming they can travel strongly and jump efficiently in rear.

2. Contenders, Dangers, Outsiders, Trends & Comments
Strongest Contender:
JACK SPARROW GREY (Timeform 109p) – Has improved markedly since switched to fences with back-to-back C&D wins. His latest win came in this grade with a bit in hand and he overcame a significant jumping error the time before. Timeform notes he’s “open to further improvement.” The Moore yard has a 22% strike rate with chasers at this trip bracket, and Fontwell suits prominent racers with fluent jumping. Should go very close.
Main Dangers:
ELECTRIC JET (106) – Was well backed on penultimate start when second at Ludlow and shaped as though the drop to two miles last time at Worcester was too sharp. He now returns to his optimum trip. The Longsdon team continues in decent form and he’s worth marking up with Sam Twiston-Davies (22% Fontwell strike rate) booked.
SUMMER IN MILAN (93+) – Solid pair of hurdle runs at Fontwell this spring, including a wide-margin win and a solid second in this grade. Made just one chase start to date (beaten favourite, error-strewn), but this is a return to familiar surroundings, and the step back in trip could help. The visor remains and he’s lightly raced over fences.
Interesting Outsiders:
MISTER UPTON (108) – Now with Anthony Honeyball (27% Fontwell strike rate), having previously shown ability over fences (C&D winner). Pulled up last two starts but goes well fresh and this switch of yard is notable. Worth monitoring in the market after 122 days off.
MILLIES MITE (104) – Inconsistent but took advantage of a falling mark to win here last time from 3 lb out of the weights. All out that day and raised for it, but the strong pace again plays to her strengths if she can reproduce that form.
Trainer Trends:
Gary & Josh Moore and Anthony Honeyball both have positive Fontwell records.
Course form is key here with Fontwell suiting nippy, prominent stayers. Horses with C&D wins include Jack Sparrow Grey, Mister Upton, Summer In Milan, and Millies Mite.
Layoff Note:
Mister Upton (122 days) and Bredon Hill Dart (36H) are returning from breaks. Monitor for market strength or weakness close to the off.

Electric Jet – strong profile at this trip and acts on varying ground; reliable type.
