Pace forecast: Very strong
Draw bias: Favours high numbers
Pace comment: Sandown mile often favours prominent racers, but the expected strong gallop may play into the hands of patiently ridden types. Hold-up horses such as Rockin’ The Boat and Wicked may benefit most.

2. Strongest Contenders, Dangers & Outsiders
Leading Contenders
ROCKIN’ THE BOAT (David Menuisier / Ryan Moore) – TFR 94p
Unexposed and shaped with abundant promise on seasonal/handicap debut when fourth at Newmarket. Still green but ran on strongly late. Will be suited by strong pace and step up to 1m. Moore booked, significant.
WINSTON’S WARRIOR (Charles Hills / Jason Watson) – TFR 92p
Backed and improved again when second on handicap debut at Kempton. Pulled clear with winner. Form solid, likely to be better again on turf. Should travel well off this pace.
WICKED (John & Thady Gosden / James Doyle) – TFR 90p
Improved run last time when second at Newmarket, travelling powerfully. Yard in form, bred to go on. Type to benefit from a strong pace and another likely to step forward again.
Dangers and Notables
BULLETIN (Jonathan Portman / Rob Hornby) – TFR 93
Solid profile at this level and generally races prominently. However, his style may be compromised by today’s strong pace. Respected but vulnerable late on.
VIRTUE PATIENCE (Amanda Perrett / Sean Levey) – TFR 92
Improved again when narrowly denied on handicap debut at Kempton. Likely more to come, though his tendency to pull and race keenly needs managing with today’s pace.
SEVEN SYMPHONIES (Ollie Sangster / Oisin Murphy) – TFR 85
Gelded and returning from a break. Strong form for a mark of 82. Likely needs this to pan out for closers and should strip fitter.
IMPERIAL TROOPER (Ed Walker / George Downing) – TFR 86
Ran poorly on return but likely needed the run. Now second-up and stable in good nick. May go forward but vulnerable late.
Interesting Outsiders
EMERY DOWN – Progressive profile, won well at Kempton on return. Form untested but scope for more.
RUN WITH IT – Lightly raced. Outpaced at Nottingham last time in slow-run race; stronger pace may suit better now.
MOONJID – Returns off a 272-day break and gelding operation. Type to monitor for future progress; trainer does well after breaks.

3. Runner Ratings (Out of 10)
Horse Rating /10 Notes
Rockin’ The Boat 8.5 Unexposed, strong pace ideal, top jockey booked.
Winston’s Warrior 8 Travels strongly, form solid, scope for better.
Wicked 7.5 Upwardly mobile, good trainer record, well placed.
Virtue Patience 7 Big effort last time. Needs to settle.
Bulletin 6.5 Solid handicapper but may face pace pressure.
Seven Symphonies 6 Form there, but layoff a concern in big field.
Emery Down 6 Could step forward again. Needs more on bare form.
Run With It 5.5 Underwhelming latest, but not written off with pace on.
Imperial Trooper 5 Return run poor. Second-up angle could help.
Gloriously Sassy 5 Two fair efforts but vulnerable to improvers.
Moonjid 4.5 May need this. Gelded. Trainer profitable after breaks.
Lunar Orbit 3.5 Outclassed on form so far. Others preferred.
Note: Moonjid (272 days off) and Seven Symphonies (166 days off) are coming off long layoffs. Watch the market for both – any strength would be notable. Emery Down is also returning within a month of a win, worth monitoring.

4. Each-Way Angles (12 Runners)
Each-way terms apply. Strong contenders at likely bigger prices include:
WICKED – Improving with each run, shaped as though 1m with pace would suit.
VIRTUE PATIENCE – Just touched off last time, shaping like a live chance again.
