Pace / Tactical Setup:
The pace forecast is even, but with several habitual front-runners (Golden Flame, Molten Sea, Bulldog Spirit), there’s scope for it to become stronger than expected. Prominent racers drawn centre-to-wide may be better placed than those who rely on cover or a late run.
The tactical shape should suit Golden Flame, who can settle handy without needing to force a gallop, and may be less favourable for Expressionless, who tends to be held up and occasionally breaks slowly.

Main Contenders & Form Notes:
The Crafty Mole (TFR 86) – Strong recent form and stays 2m well. Bounced back with a head second to Simiyann at Haydock. Goes on all ground and remains in good order. Drawn widest but should stay out of trouble.
Golden Flame (TFR 88) – In-form and well drawn to track pace. Consistent recent runs including a solid 3rd at Ascot and has the tactical setup in his favour. Unexposed at this track, and should go close if in the same rhythm.
Expressionless (TFR 89) – Course specialist (C&D winner), but profile is slightly patchy. Shaped well on return but was a little flat here latest when sent off joint favourite. Style may be compromised again by the likely tempo. Risky but dangerous if pace collapses.
Gallant Lion (TFR 85) – Won well at Chepstow on Friday, blinkered for the first time and travelled strongly. Unpenalised for that success and would be a serious player if turned out again 48 hours later. Quick turnaround is the question.
Rock N Roll Pinkie (TFR 86) – Dual C&D scorer who shaped well on return at Doncaster (3rd) and has a strong record here. Stable form is cold, but the horse is genuine and stays well. Place player.
Bulldog Spirit (TFR 84) – Impressive here last time under today’s rider. Big field suits his racing style, though not always consistent. Up 5lb but still has scope.
Molten Sea (TFR 83) – Should strip fitter after Newbury return and William Haggas is in form. May try to dictate but there’s competition for the lead, and her final 2f can be weak when pressured. Risky each-way at best.
Russian Rumour (TFR 87) – Has won over further and needs a stamina test. Shaped better than the result at Ascot on return. Often slowly away and comes from off the pace, so tactics need to fall just right.
Currumbin (TFR 86) – Well beaten at Kempton but that run was better than it looked (poorly positioned). Capable of better; price likely compensates for inconsistency.
Mandarb (TFR ?) – Ex-French; no encouragement yet in the UK. Trainer modest strike rate in this sphere. Hard to fancy on current form.

Each-Way Angle (10 runners):
With a solid field of 10 and likely each-way terms (1/5 odds, 3 places), value could lie with:
Rock N Roll Pinkie – strong C&D form, solid return, and still well treated.
Golden Flame – very consistent and will be well positioned.
Bulldog Spirit – thriving since switch of yard and versatile.

Summary:
A very competitive staying handicap with several course specialists and recent winners. Golden Flame may be the best tactically positioned horse and comes in with form in deeper races. The Crafty Mole is rock solid, while Gallant Lion (if declared) is extremely well treated under a penalty and would be a key threat. Expressionless remains interesting back at the scene of his best efforts but needs everything to fall right. Each-way players could do worse than siding with Rock N Roll Pinkie or Bulldog Spirit, both proven at the trip and track.
Watch for late support for Gallant Lion and any significant drift on Expressionless off a mark he’s won from before.
