Pace Forecast: Very Strong
Draw Bias: No significant bias recorded, but prominent racers from middle stalls often fare best.

Pace & Draw Angles
The race is set up for a searing early gallop. Several habitual front-runners (e.g. Urban Sprawl, Cephalus, Mr Swivell) will likely take each other on, which may test stamina and allow closers to come through late. As per Timeform’s pace projection, this may disadvantage Jimmy Speaking and strongly favour a late runner like Glam Squad, who should be smuggled into it.

Strongest Contenders
GLAM SQUAD (TFR 101) – Shaped promisingly on seasonal return when held up off a steady pace. Likely better suited by this stronger tempo and has solid AW form (3 wins last term including Southwell). Should be sharper now and looks ready to strike.
MR MISTOFFELEES (TFR 99) – Ultra-consistent and again ran to form when a neck second last time out at Newcastle. Proven at 1m and 1¼m and seems to handle most surfaces. Wide draw manageable given his closing style.
WHERE’S FREDDY (TFR 98) – Effective over this C&D and a solid second on latest outing in a similar contest. However, Timeform note he can trade higher in running due to being held up, which increases in-running risk. Still, he fits the race profile well.
CEPHALUS (TFR 99) – Excused last run and returns to 1m, a more suitable trip. Stays further and should cope with the end-to-end gallop. Only concern is how far forward he races in the first half of the contest.
MR SWIVELL (TFR 98) – Improved since joining the De Foy yard and won gamely at Yarmouth last time. May find this tougher pace against him, as he’s usually up there early, but still looks progressive enough.
URBAN SPRAWL (TFR 97) – Twice a winner in May, including a sharp turnaround win last time. Rated high but not ideally drawn in 12 for a front-runner in a very strong-pace race.

Main Dangers & Interesting Outsiders
BE FRANK (TFR 99) – Back on track when winning at Newmarket two weeks ago. Has a turn of foot and now returns to AW with a light weight. Solid option if reproducing turf form.
SHIMMERING SPIN (TFR 98) – Good Chelmsford second earlier in season but regressed since. The potential is there, though – better draw than last time, and trainer-jockey combo is worth noting.
JIMMY SPEAKING (TFR 100) – Consistent performer but tends to be ridden prominently and this may not suit here. Still a C&D scorer and rated well on figures.
KALAMUNDA (TFR 97) – Usually runs well on the AW but lacks a change of gear and might find several finishing faster late. Place claims at best.

Hold-Up Types Who Could Be Suited
GLAM SQUAD, MR MISTOFFELEES, WHERE’S FREDDY, and SHIMMERING SPIN – all have run well when delivered late and look best suited by this likely shape.
CEPHALUS can adapt if ridden patiently, but will need a good trip.

Trainer Trends
Daniel & Claire Kubler (Shamrock Bay, Helm Rock) – stable in good recent form.
Charlie Fellowes (Glam Squad) – runner well-handicapped, stable typically improves them second up.
Kevin de Foy (Mr Swivell) – in-form yard, strong AW strike rate.
Charlie Johnston (Urban Sprawl) – bold front-runner, but rare to win Chelmsford handicaps from wide stalls when pace is hot.
Chris Dwyer (Jimmy Speaking) – C&D winner but off-the-pace setups may blunt his chance here.

Each-Way Angles (15 runners)
With 15 declared, four places should be widely available. GLAM SQUAD, WHERE’S FREDDY, and MR MISTOFFELEES all qualify as legitimate each-way plays based on pace profile, adjusted figures, and proven stamina at the trip. BE FRANK appeals as a sneaky late player from a good yard with a low racing weight.

Summary
A competitive contest on paper, but the ferocious pace could play into the hands of a strong closer. Glam Squad looks primed second up and could be ideally suited to this setup. Mr Mistoffelees remains in peak form and should be in the mix again, while Where’s Freddy is holding form well and should be respected despite being a backmarker. Market moves on returners like Coppersmith or bounce candidates like Be Frank could be telling.
