Pace/Draw Overview:
With just six runners and a forecast of no early competition, Culligran looks the likeliest to control matters from the front. The lack of pace pressure may favour a prominent or solo leader. The others are generally either held up or off the pace, which could be a tactical disadvantage if this becomes steadily run.

Key Contenders and Comments:
Fever Dream (TFR 113)
A fair staying chaser with a good win at Southwell in April (2m4f), followed by a solid third over 3m5f at Fakenham where he met trouble in running. Dropping in trip here, which could be a query, but he’s in form post-wind op and has run to a solid level of adjusted rating. Has a tendency to be held up, so will need a true pace to aim at. Jack Tudor retains the ride.
Pooroldmackley (TFR 110)
Has bounced back since April with wins both over hurdles (Hereford) and fences (here at Newton Abbot), albeit in weak races. Versatile ground-wise and proven at the track, but generally seen to best effect when held up. With minimal pace expected, that may not play to his strengths. A genuine improver, though.
Culligran (TFR 108)
Runner-up on chasing debut at Ffos Las behind a fair mare in Obsessedwithyou. Showed pace that day and is likely to make the running again here. Has modest hurdles form but looks to have scope to improve for fences, particularly if able to dictate. Still only six and relatively unexposed.
The Dream Goes On (TFR 108x)
Lightly raced over fences but had a good start at Plumpton when winning on chase debut in March. Has failed to complete twice since, and was pulled up last time. Jumping and attitude are concerns, but he does have a fair engine. First-time cheekpieces could help. Needs to settle better to figure.
Thank You Blue (TFR 106x)
Consistent over hurdles in spring but has yet to convince over fences. Returned recently from a stint in Ireland and didn’t run badly in a Clonmel claimer. Has a high enough mark and is weighted alongside stronger form horses. Watch the market – any strong support might signal improvement plans.
Limerick Leader (TFR 107)
Pulled up in a Plumpton hurdle on his latest start when sent off joint-favourite. Has switched stables and now returns to fences after a brief spell hurdling. Slightly inconsistent and hinted at temperament in past runs. Has tactical speed and sometimes leads, but Culligran likely to do so today. Not the most trustworthy profile.

The Dream Goes On – 6/10

Watch for late market moves on both Thank You Blue and The Dream Goes On – both have risky profiles but are capable of springing to life if connections fancy them.

Summary:
Fever Dream has the strongest adjusted rating and arrives in consistent form following a win and placed effort. He is the one to beat if the drop in trip doesn’t catch him out. Culligran is tactically favoured and open to progress over fences, while Pooroldmackley has been thriving since the spring and could be a danger if they go quick enough up front. The Dream Goes On has ability but needs a clear round, and both Thank You Blue and Limerick Leader arrive with more to prove. A small-field tactical race that may go to the best-jumping stayer on the day.
