19:00 CHEPSTOW – ‘SECUREIT SUPPORTS CHEPSTOW RACECOURSE’ HANDICAP (Class 4, 7f 16y, 4yo+, 0–78, £5,339)Going: Good to Soft | Declared Runners: 8

·

Pace Forecast: Even
Draw Bias: Not significant
Pace Note: Prominent racers are favoured at this trip at Chepstow, and with a modest field and even pace predicted, those close to the pace may have an edge. Front-runner Redredrobin should be advantaged over deeper closers like Macs Dilemma.

Contender Analysis

Strongest Contender:

MUMS TIPPLE (TFR 93+, Draw 3) – Broke a long losing streak last week at York in commanding style (made all in a 21-runner race). Handles good to soft, stays 7f, and remains well treated off 86 for a horse once rated 111. Hannon’s yard remains in hot form. However, he carries a welter burden (10-3) under a 3lb claimer just 7 days after that win. Still, he looks to have plenty in hand.

Main Dangers:

ULTRAMARINE (TFR 90, Draw 7) – Bounced back to winning ways here over CD 17 days ago, making the running and repelling a late challenge. Stays 7f well and acts on this ground. Consistency is a question, but the return to this track and similar setup is a positive.

TEN CLUB (TFR 88, Draw 6) – Well-backed winner over 6f here latest, closing strongly to lead on the post. Has shaped as though 7f would suit, and returns quickly for an in-form stable. Lightly raced and still open to improvement.

Interesting Outsiders:

RAY VONN (TFR 90, Draw 1) – Dual turf winner in 2024 (Nottingham and York), shaped very rusty after 8-month break at Kempton. Now returns to turf over a trip he stays, and trainer Brookhouse has a profitable record when running just one horse on a flat card.

REDREDROBIN (TFR 88, Draw 5) – Solid course record, often races prominently, and the pace scenario suits. Forgive the Salisbury run over an extended mile, this drop in trip helps. Not out of this on a going day.

Interesting Profile/Trends Note:

Ten Club and Ultramarine are the only last-time-out winners.

Brookhouse has a strong Chepstow record with single runners.

Macs Dilemma and Ray Vonn both return from breaks over 90 days; market signals worth watching.

Society Lion and Jodhpur Blue have had quiet reappearances and would need significant revival.

Hold-Up Horses Needing Luck:

Macs Dilemma is generally held up and could be compromised by track position in a steadily run race.

Society Lion and Jodhpur Blue have also lacked tactical pace and are unreliable off current marks.

Runner Ratings (Out of 10)

Horse Rating (/10) Notes

MUMS TIPPLE 9 Form horse, well-handicapped, back quick – danger is penalty/blowout
ULTRAMARINE 8 CD winner, prominent style suits, solid profile
TEN CLUB 8 In-form sprinter returning quickly, improving
RAY VONN 7 Market move worth noting, capable at best
REDREDROBIN 7 Course specialist, prominent, back in trip a plus
MACS DILEMMA 5 Off break, held-up type, may need more help
SOCIETY LION 5 Has ability, but inconsistent and not well drawn
JODHPUR BLUE 4 Poor return, needs revival, tongue-tie retained

Each-Way Angle

With 8 runners declared, each-way terms apply. Redredrobin (course profile, pace angle) and Ray Vonn (likely improver from fitness run, good yard stat) are reasonable each-way options at bigger prices.

Private Tissue Estimate

Horse Tissue Price

MUMS TIPPLE 2/1
ULTRAMARINE 9/2
TEN CLUB 9/2
RAY VONN 8/1
REDREDROBIN 9/1
MACS DILEMMA 14/1
SOCIETY LION 16/1
JODHPUR BLUE 20/1

Summary

MUMS TIPPLE looks well treated under a penalty if he reproduces his York run, though the quick turnaround and big weight are minor queries. Both Ultramarine and Ten Club are recent winners who fit the pace setup well. Ray Vonn could step forward markedly from his comeback and has historical trainer trends in his favour. Redredrobin, though inconsistent, is well suited to this course/trip combination and shouldn’t be underestimated if getting a soft lead.

Market interest in Ray Vonn and Macs Dilemma returning from layoffs will be telling. Sprinters returning quickly like Ten Club are often primed – respect any confidence behind him.
