14:57 Brighton – STAR SPORTS WE BELIEVE IN BOOKMAKING EBF MAIDEN STAKES (Class 5, 5f60y, 2yo, good to firm)

·

Race Conditions & Setup

Race Type: EBF Maiden Stakes (Class 5)

Distance: 5f 60y

Surface: Turf

Going: Good to Firm (Good in places)

Field Size: 5 runners

Pace Forecast: Very Weak

Pace Bias: Historically, Brighton can reward sharp early speed over this trip, but with no obvious trailblazer, this could turn tactical.

Contender Breakdown

🟩 DAZZLING HAZE (TFR 76p) – 9/10

Trainer: Simon & Ed Crisford (in form) | Jockey: Harry Davies

£130,000 yearling, half-sister to 5f sprinter Clarendon House.

Promising debut third at Thirsk despite racing closer to a strong pace than ideal; the runner-up has since boosted the form.

With that run under her belt and a weak pace forecast, she could dominate or control matters from a handy position.

🟨 LONDON BOY – 8/10

Trainer: Raphael Freire | Jockey: David Egan

£90k foal, resold for £300k as a yearling. First foal of an unraced dam.

No racecourse experience yet, but clearly highly regarded.

Pace setup not ideal for a debutant who may take a stride to find rhythm. Still respected on price tag alone.

🟨 MISSION CLASSIFIED (TFR 72) – 7/10

Trainer: Archie Watson | Jockey: Hollie Doyle

Ran third on debut at Goodwood, showing good early speed before fading late.

Drop to a sharp 5f may help, and holds fitness and experience over London Boy.

Form of debut looks average, but improvement expected.

🟥 SIPI – 4/10

Trainer: Michael Bell | Jockey: Jay Mackay (7)

Finished last of 13 on debut at Ascot (5f, firm), diving right out of stalls.

Dam was a fair 7f winner; siblings show early pace, so that effort was likely below true ability.

Might do better here, but needs to prove it.

🟥 DANDY ORTON – 3/10

Trainer: Ollie Sangster | Jockey: Nicola Currie

Tailed off on debut over 6f here 10 days ago (well backed at 22/1).

Dam a sister to Salouen, but this colt showed little first time and stable’s Brighton runners tend to improve for the run.

Unlikely to feature unless huge leap forward.

Key Timeform Notes

Specific Pace Hint: Slow pace expected – suits Dazzling Haze, not London Boy.

Analyst Verdict: Dazzling Haze can make experience count; London Boy a threat if tuned up; Mission Classified a lively outsider.

Tissue Estimate

DAZZLING HAZE – 13/8

LONDON BOY – 15/8

MISSION CLASSIFIED – 7/2

SIPI – 16/1

DANDY ORTON – 25/1

Summary

In a small field with no strong pace, experience could prove decisive. Dazzling Haze was solid on debut and has the tools to boss a slowly-run contest. London Boy has the profile of a debutant to respect but may find tactical naivety costly. Mission Classified is next best, especially if ridden more conservatively than at Goodwood. The others need to step up markedly.
