1. Race Conditions, Draw & Pace Angles
This is the first division of a Class 3 1m2f handicap on the round course at Sandown. The going is good, with no noted draw bias. The pace forecast is even, but Timeform flags that closers tend to fare better over this trip here. That dynamic is expected to work against Charming Whisper, a free-going sort who made all last time, while enhancing the chances of Chaturanga, who races with more restraint.

2. Leading Contenders, Dangers & Trends
PROMETHEAN (TFR: 105) – Lightly raced 4yo with scope. Caught the eye two starts back at Doncaster and was sent off favourite at Windsor last time but pulled too hard and faded. May still be settling into handicaps and clearly retains ability. Slowly away last three runs – needs to settle. Headgear now removed. Significant if market speaks up again.
CHARMING WHISPER (TFR: 106) – Travelled strongly and won well at Yarmouth (10f, good to soft). This is a deeper race, but he looked well ahead of his mark last time and did it comfortably. Previously inconsistent, but now back in form and carries strong adjusted figures. Will need to relax early – could be vulnerable if taken on for the lead. Prominent style at odds with course trends.
DUE TO HENRY (TFR: 104) – Progressive last summer with wins at Newbury and Windsor; beat Mustazeed in the latter. May have needed his return at Kempton and is entitled to strip fitter. Front-runner with tactical speed, but stamina for stiff 10f remains a slight question. Market strength would be telling.
CHATURANGA (TFR: 104) – Two wins last year and shaped better than bare result last time when awkward/hanging. Timeform suggest the pace may suit him better today. Has a touch of quirkiness but retains upside in this grade. Blinkers replace cheekpieces – a tactical ride likely suits.
ANDALEEP (TFR: 104) – Well exposed but a horse for this track (CD winner). Comes from an in-form yard (Kubler stable going well) and shaped respectably behind a progressive type at Newmarket last time. Hasn’t won for a while but doesn’t need to find much. Stayer on a turning course – wouldn’t want a crawl.
MUSTAZEED (TFR: 103) – Won off similar mark last autumn and had a very quiet reappearance behind Stressfree. Likely to come on for that and capable of taking advantage of a fair mark, but needs things to fall right and can fluff the start. Hold-up type with clear ability but some reliability issues.
SON (TFR: 98+) – Not yet fired in two starts this season, but Richard Hannon is in good form and this colt retains potential as he steps back up in trip. Was rated higher as a 3yo and might come on third run back, though still has to prove he’s ready. Worth a market check.
SIERRA BLANCA (TFR: 104) – Smart effort at Haydock late last season but was too fresh off the layoff last time. Often slowly away and needs things to fall right. Second run back off a break, but no guarantees on current profile.
SILENT AGE (TFR: 103) – Seems to be regressing. Well held at Newbury last time and hasn’t fired since a fair AW fourth in March. Likely outsider with few positives. Hard to recommend unless market signals otherwise.

3. Ratings out of 10 (suitability to course/trip/going, adjusted TFR, profile)
Horse Rating (/10) Notes
Charming Whisper 8 In top form, may get tested if pressed up front
Promethean 7.5 Solid ability, but still learning to race – can’t afford a poor start
Chaturanga 7.5 Well suited to pace scenario, needs to channel quirks
Due To Henry 7.5 Well-handicapped and best when dictating
Andaleep 7 Reliable, handles track, but may lack finishing gear at this level
Mustazeed 6.5 Capable but inconsistent, not sure fire
Son 6 Needs big improvement but potential lurks
Sierra Blanca 6 Not ruled out but not proven post-layoff
Silent Age 4.5 Little recent encouragement

4. Each-Way Angles (9 runners)
Each-way options valid. Consider:
Chaturanga – suited by how this might unfold and handled by a rider who knows how to deliver a late move.
Due To Henry – not disgraced on return, gets Murphy and can dictate if sharp.
Andaleep – consistent type, loves Sandown, and represents a value angle.

5. Private Tissue Estimate
Horse Tissue Price
Charming Whisper 7/2
Chaturanga 9/2
Promethean 9/2
Due To Henry 6/1
Andaleep 8/1
Mustazeed 10/1
Son 12/1
Sierra Blanca 14/1
Silent Age 20/1
Market Watch Notes:
Son – third run back, drift or support significant.
Promethean – if strong in the market, can be expected to go close.
Due To Henry – sharp support would imply he’s ready to bounce.
Sierra Blanca – better second up? Only of interest if backed.

6. Summary
A trappy small-field handicap likely to turn tactical. Charming Whisper arrives in form and has the top adjusted figure, but his run style may be compromised if pressured. Chaturanga profiles as one who’ll enjoy the even pace and benefits from a calmer trip, while Promethean has ability but still needs to learn how to settle. Due To Henry is a potential front-running angle under Oisin Murphy if sharper today. Keep an eye on market clues for SON and Promethean, particularly if support arrives late.
