1. Race Conditions & Tactical Shape

Race Type: Class 5 handicap

Eligibility: 3-year-olds, rated 0–70

Distance: 5 furlongs

Going: Good to Firm (Good in places)

Field Size: 10 runners

Pace Forecast: Even

Draw Bias: Against low numbers; high/mid stalls preferred

Tactical Note: With no significant pace imbalance, prominent racers from mid-to-high draws are best placed. Hold-up runners like Invincible Crown may struggle given the course characteristics, while those with a sharp break (e.g. Blue Anthem, Jeany May) are best placed.

2. Contenders, Dangers & Outsiders

Strongest Contenders:

Blue Anthem (TFR 82) – Comes here in winning form and is a consistent sort with solid all-weather and turf credentials. Now drops back to 5f after a 7f win at Salisbury. Notably well-placed by the pace setup and enjoys fast ground. Main concern is sharpness at the minimum trip, but he has tactical speed and is ideally drawn. George Boughey has a good record at placing improving 3-y-os.

Jeany May (TFR 80) – Recent good efforts in competitive sprints at this track and Redcar, including a narrow defeat to Boyne Lady, suggest she’s holding her form well. Races prominently and acts well at 5f. Quick turnaround no issue and she’s competitively weighted.

Larchill Lass (TFR 81) – Better than the result last time over course and distance from a poor draw. Drops 3 lb in the weights here and is now better positioned. Course form solid, and she’s tactically adaptable, though more effective with a pace to chase.

Main Dangers:

Brazilian Belle (TFR 79) – Consistent filly who performs best over this trip. Fourth to Boyne Lady last time, similar to Jeany May, and holds her form across varying ground. Draw is acceptable and she should be thereabouts if the race unfolds fairly.

Go On Rosie (TFR 76) – Course winner with a good early-season mark. Likely needed the run after a long break last time and has a decent track record. May need some luck but could go well at a price.

Lady Roxby (TFR 80) – Won impressively at Musselburgh last season but has a 232-day layoff and has left the Bryan Smart yard. Watch the market—this is her first run for a new stable and she may need it.

Interesting Outsiders:

Beerwah (TFR 78) – Not without promise on penultimate start and placed last time out at Wetherby. Jason Hart booked, which is a plus, but has been a beaten favourite previously and can be slow away.

Genius Mistake (TFR 79) – Generally races prominently and has had a busy campaign. Ran below form last time but isn’t fully exposed. Could bounce back with a clean break and favourable draw.

3. Runner Ratings (/10) Based on Profile, Trip Suitability, Ground & Setup

Horse Rating Notes

Blue Anthem 8.5 Form horse, best positioned tactically. Drop in trip a question.
Jeany May 8 In form, consistent, suited by setup. May need clear run.
Larchill Lass 8 Better than bare form last time. Well treated now.
Brazilian Belle 7.5 Reliable and genuine. No standout weapon but consistent.
Go On Rosie 7 Proven at track, fitter now. Draw just OK.
Lady Roxby 6.5 Smart last season, but big layoff. New yard. Market check vital.
Beerwah 6.5 Bits of form, slightly exposed. Wouldn’t rule out a place.
Genius Mistake 6 On the downgrade slightly but has early speed.
Angelic Bugler 6 Inconsistent and outpaced last time.
Invincible Crown 5.5 Out of form and unsuited by race shape. Low draw a concern.

> Note: Watch Lady Roxby and Go On Rosie for market support — one returning from a break and one second-up after a seasonal debut.

4. Each-Way Angles (10 runners)

Each-way betting is viable here given the field size.

Larchill Lass – Better drawn today and drops in weight.

Brazilian Belle – Reliable and on a mark where she can place again.

Jeany May – Consistent, close up to good yardsticks in recent starts.

5. Private Tissue (Odds Estimate)

Horse Estimate

Blue Anthem 3/1
Jeany May 5/1
Larchill Lass 11/2
Brazilian Belle 13/2
Go On Rosie 10/1
Lady Roxby 12/1
Beerwah 14/1
Genius Mistake 16/1
Angelic Bugler 20/1
Invincible Crown 28/1

6. Summary & Smart Play

This is a fair Class 5 sprint with a handful of well-handicapped 3-y-os. Blue Anthem holds the strongest recent form and looks ideally placed, provided he handles the sharper trip. Jeany May and Larchill Lass have consistent profiles and course suitability, while Brazilian Belle makes for a solid place candidate.

Smart Play:
Win bet on Blue Anthem.
Each-way on Larchill Lass and Jeany May.
Monitor Lady Roxby and Go On Rosie in the market—both could outrun their odds if support comes.
