6.30 Goodwood – Royal Ascot Betting With World Pool Handicap (Class 4, 1m3f218y, 4yo+, 0–80)Going: Good (Good to Firm in places) | Field: 9 runnersSurface: Turf | Pace Forecast: Very StrongDraw Bias: Neutral

·

Pace/Draw Analysis:
This is set up to be run at a strong gallop, with confirmed front-runners including Morcar and Taritino, plus prominent racers Miss Dolly Rocker and Rockit Tommy. Horses held up off the pace may need luck in running, particularly Graham and Padesha, who are both reliant on cover and a well-timed challenge. There is no evident bias in stall positioning at this trip on current ground.

Strongest Contenders & Profile Notes

JUST AN HOUR – Rated 93 (adj). A solidly progressing type, now 2 from last 3, both wins at 10f–12f. Last win at Leicester (good to firm) showed battling qualities. Well drawn, races handy, and proven at this trip. Trainer Rod Millman has an excellent record with middle-distance handicappers in June. Reliable profile, fits race conditions well. Proven and progressive.

MISS DOLLY ROCKER – Rated 95 (adj). Caught wide at Kempton last time, that run excusable. Solid placed effort at Ascot prior to that. Races prominently, stays the trip, and today’s strong pace will suit. Yard in top form this month. Still looks fairly treated. Tactically versatile. Progressive.

MORCAR – Rated 90 (adj). Best form over 10f but shapes as if the trip will suit. Has run to a career-best twice this spring. Won at Lingfield, then second at Windsor when getting an uncontested lead. Blinkers retained. Positional advantage likely again. Just a concern whether he will get home fully in a truly run 12f. Proven to a point, but not fully exposed.

GRAHAM – Rated 94 (adj). Returns to the Flat after a stint over hurdles. Second to Wahraan in a strong Newbury handicap when last seen in this sphere. Has the ability but the 67-day break, switch of yard, and hold-up style are concerns given race shape. Needs to settle and get a clear run. Proven at the level, fitness a question.

ROCKIT TOMMY – Rated 91 (adj). Bounced back to form when fourth at this course 14 days ago, trading short in-running. That run suggested he’s on the cusp. Stays this far and handles the ground. Best runs have come when able to sit handy. Slight temperament concern but interesting back at this venue. Proven, possible resurgence.

Interesting Outsiders

MOKTASAAB – Rated 89§ (adj). Absent 399 days. Multiple wind ops and has left former yard. Second at Newmarket on last Flat run, though flattered. May need the run but once rated higher and stays this far. Market check essential. Proven ability but attitude and fitness are doubts.

PADESHA – Rated 82 (adj). Recently switched to new yard. Maiden form reasonable but has shown quirks and hasn’t yet translated promise into substance. Will likely be dropped in. Needs to settle and improve tactically. Promising but raw. Hold-up risk.

TARITINO – Rated 92 (adj). Triple winner on the Flat last year, including over C&D. Has continued running well over hurdles. Leads or races prominently and will be suited by a return to front-end tactics. Just a question whether he’s as effective now at this level on the Flat. Proven at track but potentially regressive.

JOHN LOCKE – No current adjusted Flat rating. Absent 846 days. Only Flat win came in 2020 for Ralph Beckett. Pulled up over hurdles last year. New connections. Almost impossible to assess, but will surely come on for the run. Unrateable – market move would be noteworthy.

Summary

This is a well-contested Class 4 handicap with a likely strong gallop favouring runners who stay well and can race handily. Just An Hour has a solid profile and is tactically versatile, while Miss Dolly Rocker looks poised to bounce back under optimal conditions. Morcar may get a lead but must prove stamina in a more testing setup. Market signals for Graham and Moktasaab will be revealing.
