15:27 Limerick – Greenmount Suite At Limerick Handicap (0–60), 1m, 4yo+, Good to Firm, 21 June 2025

·

1. Race Conditions + Pace/Draw Angles

  • Track: Right-handed, 1m flat.
  • Going: Good to firm.
  • Pace: Forecast strong. Several mid-division to prominent types but a noticeable lack of natural front-runners outside of ROMAN HARRY and STAR MIND. Hold-up horses have generally been disadvantaged at this track/trip, and high draws are favoured statistically.
  • Draw Bias: High numbers historically perform better over this trip at Limerick, especially when the pace is genuine or strong.

2. Contenders, Dangers, Outsiders, and Profile Comments

Key Contenders

  • SIERRA DE GREDOS (Draw 3): Visored to good effect when winning latest at Gowran. 6lb rise still leaves him on a winnable mark (Adj 64). Profile is that of a progressive sort with scope to consolidate. Slight draw concern (low) in the context of this race, but early track position could mitigate.
  • DEUTERONOMY (Draw 14): Back-to-back wins, including soft-ground handicap last time. Comes here just 9 days on. In-form, unexposed at this level, strong adjusted figures (Adj 66). Draw ideal. A promising profile, well-handled by rider.
  • EL BELLO (Draw 11): Consistent performer in this grade, third in a deeper race at Leopardstown. Runner-up at the Curragh earlier this season. Headgear retained. Proven at the trip and ground. One of few to hold his form reliably.

Main Dangers

  • ROMAN HARRY (Draw 6): Had a good run two starts back, but is 0–18 on turf, and latest effort was tame. Needs race to fall right and will likely race off the pace. Positive pace map setup but hold-up type who needs things to align.
  • NOTFORALONGTIME (Draw 4): Capable on his day, dual Dundalk scorer, but recent form flat and stall 4 not ideal. Blinkers retained. Likes to go forward but hasn’t held late in stronger fields. Might get softened up in pace duel.

Interesting Outsiders

  • STAR MIND (Draw 19): Close second at Leopardstown on latest start (adj 67). Unexposed, well drawn, and closed strongly in a race not run to suit. Improving profile. Promising.
  • EXCEEDING (Draw 2): Trainer has a solid record with first-time headgear, and this one’s recent return effort behind Deuteronomy wasn’t devoid of promise. Down the weights. 2nd run back—market watch advised.
  • NIBRAS RAINBOW (Draw 12): Best of 2025 so far came last time at Cork, and while his profile is inconsistent, he’s feasibly weighted now. Not dismissed on revised terms.
  • THE BOG BANK (Draw 7, Reserve): Won yesterday at Downpatrick. Very quick turnaround, but has been in form and profile type often runs well under these conditions.

3. Runner Scores Out of 10 (Suitability, Profile, Form, Ratings, Draw)

Notforalongtime5.5Well handicapped but flat form
Nibras Rainbow5.5Patchy, but better latest, positive adj fig
Jazz Dreamers5Below par last time, could bounce back
Shawaamekh4.5Returning from long break, past it?
Tynamite4.5Well-handicapped but drawn wrong side
Chou Chou4Minor upgrade last run, still exposed
Say You’re Sorry3.5Little appeal off this mark
Lorr’s Girl3Long layoff, poor recent record
The Man Above2.5Hard to support on any known form
Corballis Flyer1.5Not shown any life for over a year
Tasmanian Girl1.5More effective hurdling, poor Flat profile
Fleetfootsoldier2Poor turf record, cold yard
The Bog Bank (Res)6.5If declared, monitor closely

4. Each-Way Angles (Field of 16+)

  • Value plays from each-way perspective:
    • Star Mind – improving, big run latest, best draw.
    • Exceeding – headgear stat trainer, 2nd run back.
    • Roman Harry – consistent backer’s nightmare but has bits of form on turf that bring him in.

5. Private Tissue Estimate (approx guide based on adjusted ratings & profiles)

  • Deuteronomy – 9/2
  • Sierra de Gredos – 5/1
  • Star Mind – 13/2
  • El Bello – 7/1
  • Roman Harry – 9/1
  • Notforalongtime – 10/1
  • Exceeding – 12/1
  • Jazz Dreamers – 14/1
  • Nibras Rainbow – 16/1
  • Tynamite – 16/1
  • Others – 20/1+

Watch market for late support or drifts on those off long breaks (e.g. Lorr’s Girl, Say You’re Sorry, Shawaamekh), and for 2nd-time runners like Exceeding and Star Mind.

6. Summary & Smart Play

The two form horses heading in the right direction are Deuteronomy and Sierra de Gredos, both with recent wins and progressive ratings. The former gets the slight nod due to draw and rider synergy. Star Mind looks a serious improver and could have more in the locker with a better run style for this draw/track/pacer map.

Smart Play (Professional View):

  • Win BetDeuteronomy: in form, ideal draw, 7lb claim offsets rise, going/trip no issue.
  • Each-Way SaverStar Mind: strong finish latest, best draw, unexposed type going the right way.
