3yo+ | £5,757 | Going: Good to Firm | Draw Bias: Against High | Pace Forecast: Weak
—
Race Setup & Tactical Outlook:
A 13-runner Class 5 sprint handicap over 6 furlongs where a weak early pace is forecast. This should favour those racing prominently or tracking the leaders, particularly from low to middle draws. High numbers are considered disadvantaged by the track configuration. The lack of an obvious front-runner increases the risk for hold-up types needing a strong gallop to be seen at their best.

Key Contenders:
Camera Shy (78 Adjusted Rating): Holds the highest Timeform adjusted figure and shaped well when fourth at Windsor in April in a stronger race. Last run can be forgiven due to a poor draw. Has a late-running style, so will need luck in a race that lacks early pace. William Buick is an eye-catching booking and the visor is retained.
Mojomaker (77): Consistent and well-exposed sprinter, with solid recent runs at Chepstow and Catterick. Proven over this trip and ground. He races handily, which suits today’s likely pace setup. Though on a losing run, he’s reliable in the frame and has a positive draw.
On Edge (76): Returned with a solid third at Windsor after 11 months off. Has early speed and a favourable draw in stall 5. Has won at Windsor previously and handles quick ground. Second run off a break often brings improvement.
Spanish Star (76): Ten-year-old veteran who posted a revival effort last time at Salisbury. Course winner but is a habitual hold-up type and could be undone by the pace setup. Would be a place threat if they go faster than expected.
Nacho Nacho Nacho (70p): Only five runs in, with a promising Nottingham third two starts back. Last run at Lingfield excused (poorly placed). Better suited by a return to 6f and remains capable of better. Trainer often improves runners after their first handicap run. Market support would be significant.
Silent Flame (76): Two-time winner in 2024, including at Newbury. Looked rusty on reappearance in an amateurs’ event at Carlisle. Has a workable mark and is back under professional handling. Not one to dismiss lightly.

Interesting Outsiders & Comments:
The Bitter Moose is underperforming since changing yards and frequently breaks slowly – a big negative with today’s pace profile.
Sarafina Mshairi makes her turf debut after 120 days off and could improve, but the absence and unknown surface are questions.
Phoenix Moon has been below form on turf after good all-weather runs, and 57 mark is still no gift.
Moby Quick and Moostar are consistent but appear vulnerable to improvers.
Sorontar and The Cola Kid look exposed and unlikely to be suited by the setup.
—
Form Trends & Trainer Notes:
Rod Millman has won this race in the past with Silent Flame (2022).
Rossa Ryan (Mojomaker) has a high strike rate on favourites.
Watch for market support on Nacho Nacho Nacho (second start in a handicap), and any strength behind Sarafina Mshairi returning from a long break.

2. Mojomaker – 13/2
3. On Edge – 13/2
4. Nacho Nacho Nacho – 8/1
5. Spanish Star – 8/1

Summary:
Camera Shy comes into this well-handicapped with an ideal jockey booking and excuses last time. The race may not be run to suit his hold-up style, but he is the class horse with upside. Mojomaker is consistent, likely to race prominently, and has no trip or ground concerns, while On Edge looks a pace angle threat. Nacho Nacho Nacho remains unexposed and could be underestimated. Market movements for lightly raced or layoff types will be telling.
