18:45 Hamilton Park – Michael Tracey Project Selling Handicap (Class 6, 0-62), 5f 7y, Good Ground

·

A modest Class 6 sprint handicap over the minimum trip on good ground, featuring nine declared runners. The pace forecast is strong with several habitual front runners, notably Agnes Grey, Maris Angel and Jack of Clubs, which may suit horses that can track and pounce late. Hamilton often favours prominent racers over this trip, but when the early gallop is overcooked, late closers can come into play. There is no significant draw bias noted.

Leading Contenders:

Kyber Crystal (TFR 70) has run consistently well in 2025, winning at Musselburgh in April and placing on both subsequent starts, including over course and distance. Goes well for Kaiya Fraser and has race fitness on her side. Handles all ground types and responds well to pressure.

Carlton and Co (TFR 73) is another who arrives in solid form, fourth at Wetherby in a stronger race and has past wins on tapeta and good to firm. Tracks the pace and should be suited by today’s setup, though may prefer 6f ideally.

Agnes Grey (TFR 74) has the top adjusted Timeform rating and shaped well for a long way on seasonal reappearance at Ayr after a layoff. Front runner who may struggle to last home if taken on for the lead but has Hollie Doyle booked, which signals intent. Better judged now fitter.

Main Dangers:

Startling (TFR 70) is a consistent 3yo with a series of placed efforts at Wolverhampton before a below-par run last time. Versatile at 5f, but needs to prove turf effectiveness. Not the strongest finisher and may need things to fall right.

Maris Angel (TFR 71) has regressed slightly in 2025, but remains dangerous if allowed to dictate. Handles quick ground and is best when getting a soft lead, which looks unlikely here.

Jack of Clubs (TFR 72) returns quickly after a quiet reappearance. He’s well treated on 2024 form and has won on various surfaces. Prominent style could be compromised if lacking sharpness again.

Interesting Outsiders:

Northerner (TFR 71) may be suited by a collapse in pace. She’s lightly raced and a maiden, but placed on the AW late last year and has run better than bare form figures suggest on occasion. Needs luck in running and strong tempo.

Pinpoint (TFR ?) was tailed off last week but is trained by Ewan Whillans, who is in form. He won this race in 2021 with Rose Bandit. Capable on his day, but current form hard to trust.

Significant Trends / Trainer Notes:

Linda Perratt has a profitable record when sending a sole runner to a flat meeting, but Hard Nut appears out of form and is hard to recommend on recent evidence.

Several runners (Agnes Grey, Jack of Clubs, Pinpoint) return from layoffs of over 50 days. Market moves should be monitored closely.

Ratings out of 10 (Track/Trip/Going Suitability & Current Profile):

Kyber Crystal – 8

Carlton and Co – 8

Agnes Grey – 7

Startling – 6

Maris Angel – 6

Jack of Clubs – 6

Northerner – 5

Pinpoint – 4

Hard Nut – 3

Private Tissue Estimate:

Kyber Crystal – 7/2

Carlton and Co – 4/1

Agnes Grey – 6/1

Startling – 7/1

Maris Angel – 8/1

Jack of Clubs – 10/1

Northerner – 12/1

Pinpoint – 20/1

Hard Nut – 33/1

Summary: Kyber Crystal appeals as the most solid proposition with consistent recent form and a proven CD performance. Carlton and Co is a reliable type who is rarely far away, while Agnes Grey may come forward for her reappearance effort and could be dangerous if not taken on too hard early.

Smart Play: Win Bet – Kyber Crystal: consistent, fit and ideally suited to today’s setup. Each-Way Saver – Agnes Grey: may be sharper now and conditions should suit if front runners don’t go too hard.
