Pace Angles & Draw Notes:
This race is forecast to be run at a very weak pace, which will likely favour those who race prominently. BOBACIOUS stands to benefit most, typically making the running, while ANNEXATION, a hold-up performer, risks being caught out unless the pace unexpectedly increases. Draw bias at Epsom over this distance tends not to be strongly pronounced, though low-to-middle can hold a marginal advantage in small fields on quick ground. With only seven runners, draw implications are less severe.

Contenders, Dangers & Outsiders:
Leading Contenders:
ANNEXATION (FR): Recent second at Doncaster (well clear of the rest) off the same mark. He’s in good nick and suited by the ground, but his hold-up style is a concern given the predicted slow pace. Strong Timeform figure (82) underlines his chance.
BOBACIOUS: Won last time when making all at Leicester; thrives on firmish turf and looks very well-placed in a tactical scenario. Trainer Ed Dunlop is in decent form. Carries a career-best TFR of 80 and could control this race.
TEX: Still a maiden but has shown consistency and drops slightly in grade. Tied to form with decent opposition and should handle this track and trip well. Low draw and tongue tie retained. However, trainer George Baker is cold currently.
Dangers:
IMPERIAL CULT (IRE): Course and distance winner and prefers to race prominently. Out of form last time but had a 7-week break beforehand and may come forward for it. CD win here in 2024 is notable.
Interesting Outsiders:
FIHRAYN (IRE): Inconsistent and looked an awkward ride last time. Change of stables earlier this year and gelded profile could yet offer improvement. Has some decent AW form but less exposed on turf.
EARLY MORNING DEW (FR): Often slowly away and comes from behind, so he may be hindered in a race without much pace. Handles conditions, but unreliable and likely to be needing things to fall perfectly.
ECTOCROSS (FR): Seriously out of form and hard to support. Suited by trip, but all recent form is very poor.

Horse-by-Horse Ratings (Suitability out of 10):
1. ANNEXATION (FR) – 8/10
Good form, suited by trip and ground, but hold-up style a drawback in this small, tactical field.
2. ECTOCROSS (FR) – 3/10
Off form, outpaced last few starts, nothing positive to take from current profile.
3. EARLY MORNING DEW (FR) – 5/10
Track/trip okay, but needs a strong pace and others to falter.
4. TEX (FR) – 7/10
Consistent, capable on ground and trip, each-way claims if field were bigger.
5. FIHRAYN (IRE) – 6/10
Has ability but not proven over turf and unconvincing attitude.
6. IMPERIAL CULT (IRE) – 7.5/10
Track winner, likes to race close to the pace, needs to bounce back but capable.
7. BOBACIOUS – 9/10
Ideal pace scenario, ground and trip fine, and in strong form.

Private Tissue Estimate (Win Only):
BOBACIOUS – 5/2

EARLY MORNING DEW – 10/1
FIHRAYN – 14/1
ECTOCROSS – 33/1

Summary:
A small field and very weak pace setup places great emphasis on tactical positioning. BOBACIOUS is ideally suited here as a front-runner and comes in off a confident win, with conditions in his favour. ANNEXATION has clear ability but risks being caught out if held up off a slow pace again. TEX is an improving sort that could get involved if sharpening up further. Watch for any market moves for TEX and IMPERIAL CULT, especially with their recent efforts hinting at more to come. No each-way terms apply due to the 7-runner field.
